Hi all happy new years .I have crosman 2240 it will not cock right I pull the cocking lever back put in pellet and pushward but it will go all the way forward and go in to locking Slut .so I can not load a pellet .any help I replace barrel it 14 177 caliber it is all stock in side trigger Assemblyis all stock also .any help would be great oldgeorge God bless thanks

You probably have a pellet stuck in the breech. Easy to do in .177. You may have to dissemble it.

Will the bolt probe close all the way without a pellet? If so, sounds like the barrel alignment could be off, causing the pellet to catch the lip of the leade and not go into the barrel which hangs the action up.
Also, 177 like to tip nose down during loading because of the breech screw. The nose of the pellet drops into the breech screw and flips it upward.
A simple solution for this, drip a small bit of candle wax on the breech screw and smooth it down with your finger tip. Fills the hole, and it's easily removed for future work.

you have to change the bolt you can't use a .22 bolt in a .177 barrel
No The program the probe will not go all the way forward and drop into the slot. Like it's supposed to ibya, put the worship's under the little screw. Thought thinking that was a little red warshirt. I was thinking that screwed at holds the uh. Richard was causing the problem but that and it was working fine until I put the new Shields and stuff in it. And ever since then. Now we'll go in and check the size of the seals and made sure. I had to write ones but I don't know what it is. I just can't figure it out. So I put it away for a while and leave it alone. Hopefully it I'll figure it out. Thanks for your repbye old george

Oldgeorge - I wonder if you may be binding up on the hammer pin. When I reassemble a crosman I like the hammer in the cocked position and the bolt forward, line everything up best I can, open the bolt to install the breech screw (not tight just enough to allow the bolt to close, install hammer spring, rear cap and screws, test for function before tightening all screws.
