Crosman 2240xl co2 leak, need advice?

I've got a Crosman 2240xl that has a co2 leak. I've been putting pellgun oil on the co2 and gently tightening the screw to seal the co2 capsule but still managed to get a leak. With a fresh co2 in the gun when I go to load a pellet I can hear co2 hissing in the breach. I've watched a few YouTube videos but I'm not finding step by step instructions to replace a bad seal which I think is the problem and I'm hoping some of you could point me in the right direction. I have the 2240xl and 2300s and a couple of 2240's that I've converted into rifles so I really need to learn how to work on this problem and could use your advice. I also have Crosman 1377's and 1322 and they are pretty easy to work on but the 2240's look like they have a lot of parts that need to be removed and reassembled and this looks complicated and that has me worried. I may just tear down the cheaper 2240 with the plastic breach for the learning experience or should I just tear down the 2240xl and go from there? I've ordered a seal kit on eBay and I'll get started once that arrives.
Sorry for the long post, I've been airgunning for a little over a year and have lots to learn.

The last time I replaced the CO2 seal on a 2240 (the small seal on the nose of the valve), I simply used the nearest fit -00x O-ring. Something in the ballpark of a -009…I just stepped through the adjacent sizes and picked one that gets a little squeeze on its OD so it will stay down in the recess.

I also had to replace the O-ring that seals the two halves of the valve. It had gotten rock hard. I could not get a pick under it so I had to carefully cut it off without nicking the brass.

Hey guys thanks for the suggestions. I managed to replace the air valve in the 2240xl, I ordered a kit and a new valve because I was unable to take the original 2240xl valve apart. Once I get the leaky valve apart I'm going to rebuild it just for the experience. BTW, I did a complete disassembly/reassembly because it was a good learning experience. I'm the type of person that takes things apart but can't put them back together again but so far my airguns have been repaired by me with the assistance of this forum and it's much easier than I anticipated!
