Crossman 2300 Steel Breech Question

I'm a little confused on one item with this compared to one from the custom shop. I assume this one has the short steel breech:

What is the advantage/disadvantage to a short vs long steel breech?

Does the long steel breech make the overall pistol longer with the same length barrel?

Is there any power advantage?

Advantages of the long breech some would likely say it holds the barrel more securely although I have my doubts about that.

The long ones will give you a much better chance of getting a scope mount in the right eye position though.

I dont think that a long breech adds any length to the gun. The transfer port is in the same place no matter what breech is used and that determines barrel placement in the breech. The longer breech will give you more room to mount a scope, does weigh a few ounces more and does little to hold the barrel better unless you add a second set screw to it. Both styles hold the barrel with one set screw, I add a second screw to mine.

Strange, maybe I misread the custom shop price originally. I could of sworn it it was over $300, but you are correct.

Custom shop is the way to go. You can’t build a pistol yourself as cheap as they can build one for you. Plus the scope was Cheaper by having it Put on the gun through the custom shop. If I would’ve bought the same scope separately it would’ve cost me much more.

AoA has a used in 100% condition 2300T for $109 but probably won't sell at that price. They sell those for $159 new. Maybe offer $80. Won't hurt and their call back phone system is first rate. Good thing about the Crosman barrel 177 pistols is most likely shoots the cheap 7.4gr Pointed pellets in the 1250 count bulk milk cartons pretty darn accurate among other cheap Crosman 177 pellets but the pointers 7.4gr sure shoots great out of Crosman pistol barrels.

Ask for the rear sight since doesn't have it in that picture. Maybe offer $75 without it.
