crown 30

hi guys, im currently shoting an fx crown .30 in a sabre tac chassis with a 600 barrel and im loving it shooting the 44.75 jsb round about 889 and achieving some absolutely great results with my best group being around .82 moa at 100 meters (not yards)

but seeing as where i live my entire area is open and not too far from a lake i usually get severe winds around here (50 mp/h and up)

so for me to be able to shoot more and have less days where is just straight up cant shoot because of this wind im thinking to change to slugs, however i almost cant find anything online when it comes to a crown 30 cal and slugs. so my question what would most likely be a reasonable result changing to slugs? tuning wise. wich slug. wich grains especially

I'm kind of looking to go preferably up in velocity to 950 or so (if possible) any ideas anyone?

I don’t think the 950 mark is very achievable with a crown 30 based on plenum size. There are mods you could do to help with lighter slugs that will probaby get you into the 900’s. But for that kind of power, and impact or maverick or now panthera are better options.
you can try a heavy hammer kit, and pin probe as well as a dual transfer port to see if it helps. Also, a longer barrel will help too.
good luck!

what do you mean by the dual transferport exactly? i know i need to use the pinprobe (currently waiting on delivery) it allready had the bigger port from huma on the barrel ( thanks to the previous owner)

but the hammer kits i heep finding for crowns are always only up to .25 cal wich would make me think that either 30 allready is running that kit or the current info available on that isnt clear enough maybe then

and the longer barrel i dont really want because of manoeuvrability seeing that when i dont use it for bench i also take it pesting from the car and added lenght in that particular situation isn't in my favor there but id would help for power i agree yeah

Sorry, but sounds to me like the Crown isn’t going to do what yo I want it to. The crown is either a bench gun or a hunter. Not both. The action being farther forward than a bull pup means longer barrels and longer gun length. In order to get the speeds you want with slugs, that longer barrel is needed. I don’t think any of he crowns came with the upgraded hammer kit from the factory. This allows you to add heavier hammer weights instead of just having the factory hammer. You can then install a tungsten weight, and get more power. Also using a huma power spring will help too, but your cocking will be heavier.
I still think you’d be better suited with an impact or maverick for what you’re looking to do. The panthera will be similar in hold and feel to your current crown, but have a solid amount more power to play with.

To achieve maximum power in my 25call 600mm Crown MKII I had to set my reg to 150 and set the IHS to almost max setting at #23 on the power wheel. If I had a 30cal I would set it at 150 reg minimum if not higher.
FX stated 930fps with a 33.95 grain JSB King Heavy and I achieved 928fps with a 33.95. (This is with dual transfer port and Huma pin probe. The Huma Hammer spring provided less power, not more, so I took it out and put the stock spring back in. )
So you have more power to achieve with just the reg. Also the Tungsten hammer weight would also increase you power as well.
You should be able to get 950fps with what you have right now just by increasing the reg pressure and maxing out the IHS.
