Curious What’s Considered Decent Accuracy

I'm happy when I can hit my 1/4 inch wide "know your limits" target consistently at 25 yards from a bucket with sticks.

I think a 150 or better for the 30 yard challenge is good enough for hunting to at least that distance. Most of my guns were able to do over 180.

I also want MOA equivalent accuracy out to the distance I will hunt at. 1/4 inch group at 25, 1/2 at 50. I normally shoot 3 shot groups (which should be smaller than 5 or 10 shot groups). I think hitting a steel target or scoring well on a single shot per bull target is more important for hunting than group size. I don't have to hit the same spot 3-10 times but I have to hit what I am aiming at.

I'd say that's typical good consistency from your RAW. They are known for that type shooting if you slow down and breath slowly and squeeze the trigger. If you can see the target jumping right along with your heart beats, you need to slow your shooting down. That group is excellent, but I bet you can do even smaller group with some practice. You'll make a good benchrest shooter. Leave the starlings to Luis and go for the 30 yard challenge. 😅🤣😂

Context regarding type of airgun as well. With a co2 powered blowback replica BB pistol it's "minute of can" at 30 feet (30 MOA maybe...). Rifled barrel CO2 or pump pistol 1" at 30 feet (10 MOA). A short barrel PCP carbine an inch at 25 yards (4 MOA). Full size springer or PCP rifle, 2 MOA with constant striving for better with all types.

I’m afraid I’m not much of a bench rest shooter because my crosshairs always jump with my heart beats!! I did manage a 185 tonight on the 30 yard challenge but I think I should be able to do better. I’m pretty sure the gun can. Not so sure about me!!

Zach, I posted scores on the 30 yard challenge with three of my guns and two were in the mid 180s. I shot 184 twice with my P35-177 and a 186 with my 25 caliber Avenger if I remember right. I shot a 194 with my P35-22. A better shooter could probably do a 200 with the P35-22 but I would be surprised if they could with the other two. 10 points better than me I would believe, however. My P35-22 has twice put three pellets in exactly the same hole at 25 yards for me. None of my other guns, powder or air, have ever done it. Overlapping holes, sure, but not a hole that is just the size of a single pellet. So I think it is actually a more accurate gun.

I think a 180+ score is a very accurate gun. Plenty good enough to hunt with. I've killed 18 squirrels with my P35-25 and I did not shoot nearly this well with it.

At least some of the guys who shoot 200s are using scopes with higher power and probably nobody else is shooting at 33 yards like I am instead of 30. So I can make excuses but the simple fact is I was probably lucky to shoot a 194. But it's fun to try.

I recently got a brand new RAW Chassis Rifle in .22. I’m shooting the JSB 25.39 grain pellets at an average of 940fps. I’m just setting at a solid table with the rifle on an Atlas Bipod. I’m not a competition shooter by any stretch. I plink and shoot birds. This is my best 10 shot group at 40 yards. I’m happy with it

Ummm... are you kidding? LOL!

40 yards and obviously sub-MOA.

Many folks would be very happy with that... including myself! (smile)
