On, Canada
I checking out my 54, ZR mount out this morning. I also grabbed a HW50 .20, one of a few I got at AOA lately.
Can’t believe I missed this, you could see it if you were standing on I-75. I just put it on the block, to get ready to shoot, just didn’t look right.

Mycapt65 you’re on the money. Looks like I have a bending job to do. Crow

I would be tempted to get a good straight used HW50 to swap barrels (for science sake). We might could learn where the rabid tolerance lies. For starters, I guess either hole in the pivot group could be off.

It looks like the breech block is drooping too.
Yeah it looks like the breech is in line with the drooping barrel. A fresh plump breech seal can cause some droop that may diminish with use. The last three new 50s sent to me had similar droop with the seal removed. I never ascertained the source of the droop. It probably lies in the pivot hole location in the breech or compression tube. Possibly the milled step in the breech that sits atop the fixed detent block. Those tolerances are not easily changed without the possibility of creating other problems. I chose to "adjust" the barrels into the practical adjustment range of most scopes. It's the easiest solution. IMO, ymmv.

Interesting Ron, to hear about droop after removing the breech seal. I agree that something is either drilled or milled out of spec.

When I worked in manufacturing / metal fab, of course I would make mistakes. Usually I would catch the measurement mistake in the first couple of parts and cull / correct it. A few times in my career I made 100 parts (the whole work order) slightly off. I wouldn't hear about it until they reached Welding or Assembly or the Farmers Field.

Hopefully one day it (HW50) will all be fixed. This forum is a great source of info from years of knowledge, and it's very influential to the less experienced. I believe the HW50 recently had a ton of momentum for popularity (for potential first time buyers) except for the barrel droop.

Barrel droop is an inconvenience for those familiar and capable of fixing it. To the general consumer it can cause enough problems to ruin their purchase. How many people have had scopes break over and over again on springers. They often blame the scopes and keep searching for better rated springer scopes. Many times the scopes weren't bad but run at the end of their adjustment due to barrel droop. Scopes run far from optical center seldom hold zero. Especially the cheap Chinese scopes that usually adorn springers.

Drooper mounts help alot if you can find one that fits your gun and scope and stays in place. I choose to use good Sportsmatch rings and center the barrel if there's nothing left to do.

I'd guess if the gun/ receiver is level is the breech block level (+/-). Or the barrel . You'd have to pretty much guess the block or something off in the lockup.

Not I ever had one drooping so bad bit I wonder if the detent chisel is cut wrong / angle.

But ya, that would be a rma gun for me . That's kinda massive for a hw imho.

At there pricing I'd expect something straight . Bad enough a guy got to gut one clean and proper lube it / inspect seal or throw a tune kit in / fix screws. (Easy tlc stuff)

One more thing if a guy got 2 of them and ones nice and straight as it should be is remove the barrels and stock lay the barrels on top of each other and look at or for any difference between the good one and bad.. then the same for the tube/ receiver where the locking takes place .

Being that bad of droop whatever the cause could be seen . If you get my drift on a real side by side inspection..
