The older FX barrel system is definitely a bit finicky. But on M3 there is a clamp in the front of the block and MK2 crown has 4 set screws, both are rock solid. I’ve pick them up by the barrel and POI won’t change. Also with carbon sleeve I really don’t worry about the nodes nearly as much even at 70-80 FPE. Even my lowly Dreamline compact nailed a bushy tail right between the eyes on the first shot today, trying to be sneaky means I bump the barrel here and there.
Good thing about FX is they constantly improve, so what was once a weakness now really isn’t an issue anymore. The dynamic, Panthera or King have such stiff barrel that picking up by the barrel is not an issue at all.
