Custom barrel?

Anyone adapt an FX barrel to their gun?
Yup ... 700mm in .30 cal into a WAR Flex. Fully stretch tensioned and damn accurate too !!

FX barrels are not THE BEST compared to hand picked, lapped, finished validated custom barrels. But the newer superior FX barrels are the most consistently accurate out of box factory barrels I’ve ever seen! No mystery why people are adapting them to anything and everything these days with great results consistently. FX’s small diameter makes it easy to make adapter as supposed to machining it down with no TP to cut off, plus at 110 bucks it’s affordable too.

Custom barrels are like a box of chocolate, you never know what you gonna get…….unless you go full high end custom from reputable gun smith like @Motorhead or @thomasair just stick with adapting a FX barrel. Go big or go FX barrels……or go home.

That's what I have been reading. Looks like getting a great guaranteed barrel for slugs especially is hard to come by where as it seems alot of people report the FX slug liners are pretty consistent. I don't care about pellets.. my stock avenger barrel shoots pellets very well. Though about 5 minutes ago I may have found the best slug for my stock barrel made by apex airgun ammo. Their 41 grain flat nose boat tail slug is the best I have shot from the gun yet. Couple 1/2" groups at 30 yards running 875 or so fps

If you want proven slug performance get the FX superior heavy barrels.

Although if you up your reg on the avenger you will be surprised by how well it shots nsa slugs, no need to change barrel at all.

At what fps? I have like 5 different NSA slugs and while some shot ok, none did really well. And I have the ability to shoot slugs over 70 FPE and big Seneca pellets over 80 FPE so my gun has the power to push them.

Also for reference I have tried 5 NSA slugs, 7 AVS slugs, 5 zan slugs, 2 HN slugs, 5 Apex ammo slugs, FX hybrids, and one Flannigan's slugs. 4 different pellets as well

What’s your reg set at? My friend’s .25 avenger shot the 29 and 34 grain NSA very well. Try lighter slugs at 900 ish fps with reg at about 160-180 bar range. That gun is designed for high reg pressure, factory reg is like 200 bars.

Regulator is maxed out. But I have ported everything, have a power plenum, lighter poppet spring, and 700cc bottle conversion so my avenger is much more powerful than a stock one. The 29.5 and 34.9 NSA did well for me but maybe I'm pushing them too fast. My first round of testing I did those 20 something slugs and did groups with them at full power and recorded their ctc measurements along with what speeds they were running. My goal was to find a slug that shoots well at full or close to full power for max FPE. My next project is taking the ones that had the tightest groups and start slowing them down via hammer spring to see if they tighten up.

If you have maxed out reg then reduce hammer spring till the group tightens up, the avenger’s hammer is a bit too heavy IMO.

Keep in mind it is 299 and there is barrel lottery for that gun. Make sure the crown is good and do some polishing but you can only get so far with that barrel without major rework if that’s possible.
