HW/Weihrauch Custom Stocks UK - HW30!!!!

I feel sorry for you Canadians. When I lived in FL, I met some Canadian folks who stuffed their car with all kinds of things to take home with them because it was so much cheaper hear. The man said he made wine at home because a $3 bottle of wine in the States cost him $15 in Canada. That was 15 years ago. Can't imagine what it's like today.
Yes, you’re right on a lot of things. Your prices are better in most cases. But you have a better selection. I did my fair share of shoping in the US. Michigan is only 4 hrs. away. There’s times I wish I brought a trailer.
Booze is another story.
.20 cal. Weihrauch’s are not available in Canada, since Covid, can’t even order. So I get them at AoA. The exchange is a killer, then I get taxed at the border. And I have to have them shipped twice to get here. First to a dealer out West, then to me. Plus pay him a fee.
Do what you got to do. Crow

Stock arrived from Custom Stocks UK on Friday. Very fast turn around and two box packaging. Luckily it flew through customs. Dusted off my HW30 and realized that I had left it cocked for at least two months.... 🤬

They did an excellent job on the stock. The top of the comb is lined up perfectly. My HW30 slid right in. Really happy with the way it turned out. I highly recommend one. The stippling is awesome and the schnapel front end cups my off hand perfectly (hard to see in the photo).

I have a new Savior rifle case showing up this week for it. Great rifle cases!

Good thing I have an extra HW30 Vortek kit stashed away for just such an emergency 😁 I took Monday off, I know what I m doing now 😄

Scope is a Hawke 2-7X32 Airmax and a BKL 260 droop mount, one of my favorite combinations.
Nice 30. Deadly setup. Had to change my shirt I drooled so much.
Drives me crazy . You want something, but can’t have it. Enjoy. Crow

That's the unfair tariffs Canada imposes on our products. Everybody does it to us.

So here is my CS HW30 stock. A different version than @maxtrouble but similar.Sorry, no beautiful natural light shots, that will come. Much better heft and balance compared to the original. I haven't actually shot it yet, but the extra weight should make it even smooother than butter ;-). Not great figure but still nice. I have more walnut figure in the door fronts of the cabinet I made just to house my rifles...(some of them). Cheers!

Hey if anyone here does get a CS stock made for their 30 or R7, please contact me if you'd like to sell your old one. I'd like to lower the comb on my 30 for peep sights but I'd make a mess of it. If I can get a take off stock at a reasonable price, I won't mind taking a belt sander to it and gambling on the refinish.

Thanks, be well
Ron

I considered working the stock on my HW 30 as well. The comb was so high it was a bear to get low enough to use the peep. Mine was the laminated stock. I decided to scope it and it was fine. I eventually just gave it to my boys to shoot. I definitely would think about another one with a custom stock. Some of them are absolutely gorgeous!

Ron, I think most will agree the early R7 stocks worked well with peep sights. I also think I have an earlier HW30 that has a low enough comb but have to check to be sure
A presafety R7 stock can be made to fit later HW30/R7 well with a little glass bedding epoxy to fill in where the end cap was.

Laminated isn't hard to rework because the color is through the wood before the laminate is bonded together. You could belt sand the comb and clear laquer it and there is no problem. I refinished my blue r9.

I've been using my Peep sighted Hw30 the way it is for 9 years and tens of thousands of shots. I noticed that I can't rest my cheek bone over the comb. I have to tilt my head more than proper to get on the sights. It's just a little unnatural and I'd like to fix it. I have so much sentimental feelings for it I can't butcher the plainest Hw30 stock made in decades.

Be well
Ron

Sorry for the detour. Back to beautiful walnut Hw30 stocks
