Snowpeak Cut the rail?

Ok, so the scope rail on the m60b/zelos bothers me. It's almost pointless to be that long and shaped goofy. Only if you wanted to add a light or something i could see needing the forward part of the rail.

I'm thinking of cutting it flush to the action. I have a cantilever scope mount that I use at the rear most slots, so I'd still have a couple sections to use for a 90° rail.

What you guys think?

I'm going to be cutting down a barrel for it and keeping the length down anyhow. I think it would look better when shortened.

I think firewalker has one like that and I'm still on the fence with that look. I'm thinking all or nothing lol.

Look doesn't bother me but YouTuber with M60B .35 trimmed his down for weight saving, IIRC was more than Firewalker removed. WM

This is also a reason I'd do it. Trim off any forward weight you can if you plan on ever shouldering the thing.

Probably claimed he couldn’t muster up the energy to carry it all day until he cut that 3oz off. Now the gun handles like a dream.

Is the rail removable with a couple of screws? If so take it off and reverse it, would give you an idea of how it would look if you cut it.

That extra 3 oz on the top out front really pulls on the low back.

The rail slots damn near line up too.

Nothing a hack saw and a file wouldn't take care off. Give a squirt of matte or semi black and scuff with 0000.

I may not cut it flush, but match the angle of the back part of the rail and have just a little tip.

I would chop it at the angle of the butt end. It flows with the grip angle…

Got a miter saw and carbide blade? Cut slowly with rail well clamped.
Carbide miter saw blade will cut aluminum with ease.

Prism. But c’mon Mike, this is much better than the endless stream of “hyped up on YT videos, got an M4, don’t know my ass from my elbow, please help” threads..

Just need to clean it up and refinish. My OCD is happy now!
