CZ Barrels Returning to Taipans! Plus..

Anyone know if there's a noticeable difference between the LZ and CZ barrels for someone shooting pellets only (no slugs)?

My Veteran is a LW barrel, and it shoots great, will rival the precision of my RAW and Red Wolf. I shoot only pellets, and standard power. Each barrel is an individual entity, these 2 makers produce excellent barrels, choose either with confidence.

Thanks, that's great to hear! I was just about getting the funds together to pull the trigger on a Veteran Compact, but then saw this thread and was wondering if I should wait or not...

There is good reason why the CZ models have less depreciation.

Not sure there is, at least not a good reason. My LW barreled Veteran is stellar in its accuracy, and, best I can determine, that has been true of production in general. The shooting hobby is not immune from urban legends, and I believe this is one. I haven't reviewed the Taipan used market, but if I were looking, and if the LW barrel versions were available at a discount, I'd be all over it.

You were lucky then. My standard's barrel is garbage. Derrick's LW wasn't good along with several other airgunners that can actually tell the difference, and the ~30 people on my FX adapter list that have complaints. Never heard a single complaint about any of the CZ Taipans. Don't take this as me trying to convince you of anything though, it makes no difference to me what you believe.

Has anyone heard more about this? I tried reaching out to Taipan but no word yet...

They're not real responsive through their website. You can get a hold of them on Instagram usually.

I must have missed the complaints about the LW barrels. Maybe I got lucky, but if so, I'm not alone. My .22 Standard shoots with my RAW, Red Wolf, and HW100. I believe the RAW and Red Wolf are also LW barrels, think the Weihrauch is their own. I would be interested to hear reports from others who have been disappointed in their Veterans with LW barrels.

My 25 Long shot jsb kings amazing, i’ve been working on tuning it for slugs recently but would have no problem going back to pellets considering how well it shot them.
