CZ Barrels Returning to Taipans! Plus..

Are these going to be sold separately or come stock on the guns? Asking because my taipan veteran long gets here Friday and i’d be real bummed if I just bought it before the new barrels come out.

Just advertise it in the classifieds for $5 less than you paid for it. Some knucklehead will buy it. But I would shoot it first. You might be pleasantly surprised. Taipan doesn't sell junk. No matter what barrel its wearing. I might be mistaken because I have too much airgun info floating around in my head but it seems like the LW Taipans like slugs.

No, the barrels in most of the recent Veterans have been pathetic with slugs. My original 22 cal Standard barrel was probably the centerpiece. There might be some .25's out there that work with certain slugs, but zx10wall and two dozen others (or more) will tell you otherwise.

Everything else about them are a level above top notch IMO. I've spent a lot of time this past 6 months getting mine perfected. I can't be too mad about the barrel I received, because my Vet probably wouldn't be what it is today if it had been good lol

That's right. I think it was the longs in .25 that I saw were shooting slugs. I was shocked at some of the groups. But the reality is Taipan is selling pellet guns, not slug guns. I hope nobody was having issues with pellets. I don't remember seeing any complaining. What kind of barrel was on your standard .22? Mine is a CZ. I thought they only used LW on some of the models.

I had the Ukraine / CZ combo when I had my Taipan Vet.
In my case though, it was also the .25 cal 'Shorty' version.

Damn I loved and miss that gun!
Why did it have to be a .25??? [The only reason for letting it go]

I can't wait to get another one - in .22. They're such amazing little guns!!

🤘

Sam -

PS: I only shot pellets out of mine and only indoors @ 10 meters,
so I can't vouch for slugs or for accuracy/precision/consistency @ longer ranges.
For what I was doing though - That thing was laser accurate / pellet on pellet
after getting it dialed in / 'de-tuned'. 👍👍

PSS: Not sure if it's all of the shorties in .25 or just the bbl on the one I had,
but, it was a bit picky with 'lighter' pellets, while it just Loved 'heavies'!

Of course that'd be the case.. I didn't have any heavies when I got it..
But I stoked up on a ton of regular diabolos. Hence the need to 'de-tune'. 🤦‍♂️🤪

If they make a 700mm HP option I'm definitely buying one in .22 or the 2 if they make a .25 to..I used to have them in both calibers in the long version, but found them under power for the size n weight..as a example I could do the same 100y + shoots using my .22 cricket compact ...so I don se the point of having such a heavy bullpub to shoot 18g...because it could not push. 22 redesigned..but if the new long could push the redesigned at 950fps + me buying one for sure..

I recall someone else posting that a newly designed Taipan with side lever cocking was coming soon as well?

I wonder if this is, a) part of the transition over to a new model designed with the CZ barrel in mind, b) an indication that Taipan will continue to offer the Veteran alongside the as yet introduced new rifle, or c) all of the above.

I’m hoping for c) all of the above, because I’m looking to get a veteran in the next year and love the idea of the CZ barrel, but am unsure of the idea of a newly designed model given how positively everyone speaks of the existing model (i.e., don’t mess with a good thing). Choice is always a good thing.

Supposedly LW, but LW using the same DOM tubing materials for all of their airgun barrels period - and nothing else. Whatever the F the barrel is that shipped with my Standard was *not* made from the same materials.

It shot 18gr OK, and everything else horrendously. The bore constantly stains patches like a lead pencil. It did this new and after a proper bore polishing.

I'm running a 600mm FX barrel kit that loves 29, 34, 36, and 40gr BTs at warp speeds, so I'm not going to l dwell on that hunk of 💩 anymore.

wonder if i made a mistake ordering my taipan long last week that gets here friday lol, are we able to buy the barrels atleast? Also are the new barrels being made by the CZ firearm company because everything i own from them is pure perfection

yes the barrels will be sold separate from what i’ve heard but I can’t answer your second question.
