Daisy Daisy 499b

I am having a blast with my new 499. I decided to make it a winter project. The reach is not bad but the whole thing is a little small. The barrel length is actually long So just for fun, I found A used stock . I’m gonna make a fully adjustable target stock and an adjustable palm rest. Not sure how but this is so stupid all I can say is hold my beer.

I'd love to see what you come up with. Sounds like a really cool project.

a small market for the 499 you have to be kidding
https://www.daisy.com/best-selling-daisy-rifles/

there are 1000 of youths competing with this rifle and every year they have a championship

Please note that I said "relatively small market". I am quite positive that the number of Red Ryders sold this past Christmas would absolutely dwarf the sales of the 499B during the same time.

Ok this is what I found so far.
I picked up a used stock set for the 499b . It looks pretty good.
I also found a plastic adjustable butt plate.
I found the pieces to make the adjustable cheek piece and a screw in Pic rail for the front.
I can’t get the cheek piece parts yet because I don’t think they will fit.

My plan is to cut the cheek piece from an original stock and use the cut piece. I have to make the cuts perfectly line up. If I can’t make it adjustable it will just look adjustable . This is a BB gun after all. I want it to all look factory original. That’s why I got the plastic butt plate. It matches the sight parts.

I was shooting my 499 tonight and feeling it out. The gun is small but the length of pull is not that far from my other guns. As for the cheek piece. I am not sure . Without a scope you are kinda in a really good spot as it is.
Sitting next to my Tx200 the trigger is about 1-2 inches back. In gun terms that’s a mile. I can fit the rear printed butt plate to the stock and not remove much of the original stock. I don’t want it to look added on. I think I can get the base printed to exact dimensions once I know what they are.

I have been shooting field target open class piston since 2011 and sadly the class is all but dead. So I will be shooting hunter class piston from now on. I have a nice set of shooting sticks and a bucket with a seat. But I have not used it much. Till now.
I set the 499 up at 15 feet and put 5 BBs in the 8-9 ring on the first try. After sight in I got a couple tens

I finally bought a 499B over the summer. I have enjoyed it. I set up a 5M range in the spare bedroom. Cheap entertainment. I made a bb trap and hung it on the wall next to a big screen tv so I can shoot and watch tv. The trap I made out of wood and have a dowel rod in it that I hang a folded towel on. I bought the official 5M bb targets to use and based the opening to the trap off the size of the target.

So last night I was shooting my 499 from shooting sticks and with the gun stable the plastic rear sight is really showing its price point. It is just a hole. But it is not round so when you start to play with light and eye relief it has a flat side that is slightly blurry.

I found this on EBay and got it for half price. Not sure if it will fit. But I’ll try it.

that sight was at PA but no longer shows they have a new Air Arm sight that is from India which looks nice but it sits a little high
the upgrade would be the sight off the 753s but it looks like the sight above and both are kind of FWB clones off a FWB 300
they are out of stock at Daisy
