Daystate 220v - Been sitting a while

Hi all. I picked up a used Daystate 220V this weekend off a guy who has stopped shooting much. He said he hasn’t used it much at all since spring. He changed the oil once with 10hours or less on it, but it has been sitting since spring. I was able to test it out before buying it, and it worked great.

The main points of advice I see from people are that you should run it a little every week, but also run it to cool down after a fill. Becasue it has been sitting a while, what advice would you give me moving forward? Should I change the oil, even though you wouldn’t normally if it had been running weekly?

I didn’t want to hijack the 110v thread evenhough they are very similar in some regards.

It runs like a champ, so I just wanted to be prepared moving forward.

I personally don’t know but I suspect that running it a “little” each week could be detrimental. If you are going to run it run it until it is throughly warmed up or leave it sit.

Presenting this not as given but as a point of discussion. Seems to me running it a little is likely to cause condensation to occur which could lead to rust and corrosion???

I don't have any advice to give you but I noticed that both times I let my compressor (Chinese Vevor) sit unused for 2-3 weeks it didn't work when I tried using it again. The first time it wouldn't build any pressure and the second time (just yesterday) it would build pressure very very slowly but seemed to heat up quicker then normal so I just shut it off and tore it down. I don't know if any of this would apply to your compressor as it is obviously a higher quality unit then mine but I am going to make a point this time to use it at least a couple times a week and see if it lasts longer...

Come to think of it the seals in my hand pump failed after sitting for a few weeks and I had never had an issue with it before.

The manual also suggests to be sure to run it some each week instead of letting it sit idle. I would have to go double check, but I think it said 20 minutes every 15 days.
