Daystate Daystate Alpha Wolf Smart power adjustment

I'm curious to know adjustability of the power range for the FAC version of the new Alpha Wolf Smart. The specs on Daystate's web sited state the power is adjustable from 80-100% in 5% increments. This seems like pretty narrow range of adjustment, while the Alpha Wolf with builting chronograph appears to have a much greater range.

For example, for 17" barrel in 0.177 100% corresponds to 20 ft/lbs, and 80% to 16 ft'lb, preventing use for WFTF with a 12 ft'lbs limit.
For 0.22 with a 17" barrel the specs are 45 ft/lbs at 100% and 36 ft'lbs at 80% , with 20 ft'lbs required for AAFTA FT not availaible.

Does anyone have hands on experience with the Alpha Wolf Smart?

Thanks.

I don’t have any experience but I just want to point out that right now the full featured version is actually cheaper than the smart version. If you were ever going to buy an alpha wolf right now would be the time to do it.
Thanks for sharing that; it's a huge discount. For me the attraction of the Smart version is that it does not have the built in chronograph, but finding out details for tuning is hard. I'll give AOA a call and see what I can learn.

Yeah definitely jump now on the full feature if you are going to get one. Can always just shut off the chrono and experiment with advanced mode. Looks pretty easy to figure out with a little trial and error. Doubt an AW will be had for 2700 in the near future. Skout is also on sale as well. Great guns and super easy to figure out.

From what I've had explained to me, by Daystate Factory. The Smart Wolf is like a Alpha without factory modes and chrono graph. You still have advanced modes settings and tweeking, and the % of power will change depending on you BAR reg. Pressure. The higher the reg.BAR is set the more fps. you will have with the %'s. Let's say you want to shoot a 25 gr..22 pellet at 950. Let's say you set Reg.pressure at 120BAR and % at 90% to achieve that. NOW if you are shooting, you can tweek that down 10% or up 10% , maybe because of pellet design, or barometric/temperature changes thru the day at that location. You won't have to go into advaced mode or rely on factory mode and the guns chrono to do that. At least this is how I understood as it was explained to me.AOA will also have the ability to install the Smart firmware in existing Alpha's, but it is caliber and barrel length specific. So you cant swap barrels or change caliber without changing the firmware. You will loose factory mode and the guns internal chrono installing the Smart firmware.

So with the smart platform to caliber swap you will need to reprogram for the “smart” feature (% power) to be accurate? That’s kind of a pain.

For those who want to switch between different calibers and barrels, it will be a deal breaker. But for those that don't, it should work fine. I'm thinking the majority of Alpha owners want the caliber Alpha they have to shoot accurately and cosistant, and this should make the small incremental adjustments on the fly much easier than going into the advanced settings and creating another profile, or relying on the chrono and factory settings to communicate and tweek everything, which has been a problem for many Alpha owners.

The only thing I will say is it seems to me daystate could have easily pre loaded all calibers in to begin with. In the regular platform they are all there for the factory modes. Wonder if you can change the smart guns with their 120 dollar usb reader. lol.
I suppose it doesn’t necessarily make it a deal breaker, at least it wouldn’t for me as you could still caliber swap, at least the kit would be cheaper and just direct program for the different caliber in the advanced settings.

But there are no factory setting or tables in the Smart version, because YOU set the reg.BAR and adjust your % from there. I have the dongle and was told by the factory that it wasn't just a firmware switch, to make the Alpha a Smart Aplha, but I am also not a computer wiz.

It still has advanced settings though right ? In theory shouldn’t you be able to just adjust the reg to whatever caliber you switch to and enter direct voltage and dwell numbers for that caliber?

Yes it has all the advanced features you can change, just no factory preloaded settings. But if I understood what I was told, the smart firmware is barrel length and caliber specific. I dont know why, but that what I was told, as to why it's like that...I have no idea, just relaying what those at the Daystate Factory told me. You can call them at the factory and get your answers, it only cost me 20.00 to do that.

Lol…that doesn’t surprise me at all ($20) Hopefully eventually there will be some users of the smart platform that can convey how well switching calibers works.

Off topic: Where exactly is this Skout sale?

I have the deltawolf smart. It has no chrono, so you can’t set a velocity for it to chase. And as stated, there are no factory tables set up for specific projectiles. Mine has “power” settings with 75, 85, 90, 95, and 100%. Selections. Yes, it goes from 75-85, no 80. I hope there’s an update where there is a more granular power adjustment, like 2.5%. You can get a sizable increase in fps with the current power selections.
