Daystate CRX FT - Opinions

I sure cant add a thing other than to say I have enjoyed shooting other folks CRX's and have even had the good fortune to shoot a Ripley and a GC2 , all outstanding classics that will certainly hold there own any day yet have charm and warmth missing in some current offerings.

Wish I could have kept all my older "good ones" but it great to see some people do still appreciate the classics!

John

Hey I missed a Ripley with a Huge British style walnut stock with the Rowan hamster inletted in. JUST MY STYLE.... BIG and RIPLEY

3000 pounds , they told me not a problem getting it here... ??

I heard some shops can or will ship to an FFL in the states.

Ok,,,you didn't hear this from me, Ron is selling a CRX with a brown stained laminate stock with some stock detailing, to help fund his CRX-ST project

A very close friend of mine shoots a Daystate CRX as his go-to FT rifle. They're really phenomenal for what you can get them for. No reason why they can't compete with anything else on the market. The shot count on the example I've seen is a little lower than the modern FT rifles, but accuracy, consistency, and trigger are all VERY competitive. As a south paw though, I'm not very fond of it since the stock is strictly right handed.

If I ever see one of those lefty CR-X's I'll be on that in a heartbeat.

I was fortunate in being able to purchase a CRX-ST LH from a fellow club member last year. I own a few other high end FT airguns and this 20 y.o. CRX is probably the most consistently accurate one of the bunch. HEAVY but very accurate. I’ve read that DS only made 180 CRXs. Don’t know how many LH versions were made (10%?) but I only know of 1 other CRX LH ST in the US and neither are for sale. Good luck in your search as this is a gun worth owning but finding a lefty won’t be easy and it won’t be cheap. Uj

How do you detune the 97? I know to take the stock off, pull that plug, on the 97 there’s a grub screw on the right, undo that but which way is the detune, left or right turn? I’d think it’s left but I can’t remember if the threads are “backwards” so lefty is tighty.

The CRX doesn’t have the grub screw if I remember correctly.

I have an SE from AOA in a “splatter paint” job. Green receiver, gold splatter, gold lettering. It’s ugly but shoots well.

Aw Ron you've already cornered the market on old Brits. Pickins are pretty slim stateside these days. I'd love to have Kens DS but as Brazos said, It's of no use to a lefty. Good luck in your search. PM me if you come up with something that you want to cull out of your collection. Uj

Congrats Ron! Looks like you found a good one and there just aren't that many out there. I was eyeing up a nice LH FT stocked Ripley on one of the Brit classifieds only to discover that their laws make it nearly(?) impossible for a private party to sell/ship to the US. Good luck completing your short list! Uj
The CRX is alive. Yesterday @ CASA FT range
