I had to cancel my order for a DS Red Wolf today after one of my friends informed me that I was going to need to buy a programmer for it.
What ! ? ! ? .... I'm buying a 2600 dollar electronic airgun and I have to pay more in order to be able to program it? Nah... no way.sorry. As much as I love Daystate, that's complete BS and the only reason I didn't buy the last model a year ago.
This same friend allowed me to shoot his Rosso and it was then that he implied (at least such was my understanding) that he could program it through his phone or computer.
After shooting about 50 rounds through it man I was hooked ! Immediately after getting home I called my guy and put an order in. Well thank goodness the gun I ordered is relatively rare and not in stock. My rep had to order it for me. I was told 6 to 8 weeks but given a deep discount on some paraphernalia to make up for the time, which was fine with me. I have my Crown. I have my Huntsman XL HR. It's no problem for me to wait. A few days go buy and today I'm talking to this same friend and he asks me if I was able to find the programmer anywhere. I was like... "what programmer?", I though it was a "program" (you know an app). He says ... "Oh no" You gotta buy the programmer or you can't really do much but look at the settings and change a few of them with the trigger based programmer." "Well crap! Thanks a lot for telling me this now." I say. I guess I should have done my due diligence and asked more questions from the sales rep.. (name withheld because I like these guys and do a lot of business with them) but I'd already shot the thing and figured I knew what I knew. Man, I even put my Crown up for sale and turned down a couple of "offers" already. I even had a conversation with one guy where we talked about the Red Wolf and I told him all about programming it with my computer and how excited I was about not having to take my damn gun apart to tune it, and blah blah blah.
Feeling pretty stupid for sure. Sorry buddy (whoever you were) about the misinformation. Mostly my ultimate disappointment is in Daystate. I hope these guys wake up soon and realize that the only advantage to having an electronically programmable gun, is the ability to actually program it. Paying another large chunk of change for something that should be included with the gun is something I just can't get my mind around.
Guess it's back to looking at the Impact.. same really, I'd much rather be shooting than fooling around with hex wrenches.
