My suggestion is to not place fpe as a primary consideration in a rifle for the use you describe. No standard power air rifle in .177 through .25 is going to deliver enough energy to be a practical guide in making a decision. A gut-shot squirrel with a .25 is still a gut-shot squirrel, and he's likely lost. A head-shot squirrel with a .177 is dead as Custer's nuts. If you go to one of the online calculators, you can enter your pellet weight and velocity and see what happens at various distances. You might decide that the steeper trajectory is not a factor and that the .25 is perfectly suitable. Unless you are overrun with the critters, shot count and pellet cost probably aren't critical either. I don't have a .25 because I'm too lazy to mess with a third pellet size, and I've never thought that I needed more than a .22.Now I'm worried I made a mistake in caliber. I sent an email to AOA to check the possibility of changing to regulated 22. I plan on this being my go to rifle for any small game. I figured the .25 would carry more energy. Anyone have one in .25 and regret their purchase? The .22 would be nice for higher shot count and cheaper pellets.
