Daystate Mobile Platform Solution

After growing weary of bending over and manhandling my compressor around to a different spot when using it, I was looking for a solution. I was planning to buy supplies and build a caster platform but then I remembered the foldable cart my wife uses when we move huge, heavy boxes that we load and ship to the PI. So I confiscated it for permanent duty.

Clever design, folds out and 300lb capacity, 16"x26" platform. The handle slides up, locks into position and doubles as a holder for second filter.

That second filter is listed by AoA as an Omega Cleanair inline filter but I think it's actually a Coltri filter that's been modified with foster fittings. It's branded as Coltri and comes with a Coltri cartridge filter (#SC000340), the same filter the Daystate T2 (220v) uses in the last filter cylinder. You can also use this cartridge from Lawrence factor:

Now if I could just figure out what type fitting this outlet uses, I could rotate the compressor 180, ditch the long hose with the din300 and run a shorter hose with a female QC directly to that second filter.

So for the daystate or similar size compressor, not a bad solution. I just roll it near an outlet, scotch the wheel while in use, then move it back to a convenient spot for storage when finished. And for those wondering, yes I did buy the wife a new magna cart as a replacement.

Cool set-up. That cart is pretty stout. BTW, i don't see why you're having to use a DIN Scuba connector at the Coltri filter end of that hose. Why? Can't you use a short hose with a female foster?

thanks..building the cart is no problem deciding on the compressor has been..the day state is one of the better ones..the nuvair mch6 is the same and @ $2700 comes stock with the filter...

Gadballs, the daystate comes setup like that, din300 on the tank end of the hose. My plan is to add a short hose from compressor to filter but I'm not sure what type fitting that outlet connector to the hose is. All I really need is maybe a 1 ft line from compressor outlet to a female QC for the second filter.

Tibor, yeah the daystate 110v is the nuvair/coltri mch6 without the bells and whistles. It even has an empty ring holder where that catridge filter is supposed to mount. If you have the coin, I'd go with the coltri mch6 and not have to be rigging up a 2nd filter. Not sure but I think the regular mch6 also has the auto set/shutoff.

In my case, just getting into pcp, startup cost was getting out of hand. Gun, tank, compressor, etc. so I just chose the best compressor I could afford. My biggest fear now is when I die, the wife will unload all my gear for what I told her it cost, lol.

So the Daystates come with just the separator and no filter? I get it now. I looked at one on-line and see what you're saying. I didn't realize AoA's DS comp(the lowest priced one) didn't come with the filter tower. I guess that's one reason for the lower price. Coltri makes nice stuff. A buddy has had one for 15+ yrs. and other than reg. sched. maint. he's never had to touch it. BTW, one last question: does your filter have any type of pmv(press. maint. valve)? Reason i ask is this type of filter needs to have a build-up of pressure to work properly. Just blowing air thru them doesn't let the media work as well.

I hear you..same boat...but buy once is the key..that freedom 10 american made has stopped me for a while now..the whole setup needed is keeping me toward the nuvair...hand pumping 500 plus for a close to fill is getting old.

Gadballs, it does not have the pmv but I think Centercut covered this topic pretty well in other threads. Bottom line, if filling from empty then definitely a pmv is needed. If filling a 4500psi tank that has dropped down to 200bar, then not a problem. Just get the first fill at a dive shop. At least that's my understanding but admittedly, I'm still learning.

Edit to say I plan to add a pmv and visual moisture indicator later but that's more for my own curiosity and peace of mind than any other reason.

I thought about that after i answered. A partially filled tank should give you the needed back-pressure for the filter.

One fellow didn't know that you didn't have to drain the scuba tank to zero before refilling. That seemed sorta intuitive to me but then again if you follow the directions completely they talk about filling the tank from new and don't mention what happens after the first fill.



On my thread we're talking about the seemingly unnecessary use of the Din connection and possible ways around that. Haven't determined a way as yet.

My set up is exactly like chohan's but I don't need to move mine so I simple fastened the air moisture filter to the wall. I bought my filter from AOA with no instructions what's the consensus on when you would need to change the medium in the filter or is there one and how would you know.

@bubblerboy64, if you do a good search on here, you will find explanations of all this type of thing. But Readers Digest version, a PMV (pressure maintaining valve) is used on SCUBA compressors when filling tanks from low pressure (or empty). It acts as a simple back pressure regulator to keep a minimum of 2000 psi in the filter/dryer (its installed at the outlet of the filter/dryer) so that the filter medium is not quickly expended by air flowing too rapidly through the filter. So it keeps the filter/dryer at 2000 psi until the tank pressure is at that pressure, and then it flows as if its not there. So as you can see, when "topping off" SCBA tanks for PCP, usually from about 3000 psi to 4500 psi, the PMV serves no function. Hope this helps...

Below is what you are looking for if you want to use the hose with DIN connector that came with the Daystate Compressor. It will give you a male Foster QD on the end instead of the male DIN. Or you could do a female foster QD is that's what you prefer.

As for the final air-filter, its kinda dependent on the ambient temps. where you use it. If you're between,say, 50-85deg.F you'd probably want to change the cartridge in the 15hr. range for a breathing-air filter and 20hr for just a drying only cartridge.
