Daystate Monster 25.4gr pellets

Anyone have any experience with these pellets? I bought a couple of tins to try in my Red Wolf HP. They don't have the deep skirt like some of the JSB pellets (that should be a plus). I washed both tins and there was very little swarf and the pellets themselves look very nice and uniform. Supposed to be made at the JSB factory with Daystate's own dies.

Next to a JSB Redesigned.

You chose one to show us that has a bent skirt. They do look a little different but similar to the original JSB Monster. Why would you think that shifting the mass of a pellet to the rear by making it shorter and with a less deep hollow in the base would be a good thing? This moves the center of gravity back in relation to the center of pressure which will reduce the self righting effect of the pellet without necessarily improving the ballistic coefficient.

One thing I have noticed is that the the JSB Redesigns are too large in diameter at the base. Very hard to chamber. The excellent JSB 18.1 gn group better in my Marauder

Try them both and let us know which one groups better.

edosan did a test with some JSB redesigned pellets that have 2 different bases in his Red Wolf HP. The ones with a deeper base are not as accurate as the ones with a shallower base. The theory behind it is the shallow base get seated further into the barrel and it is one of 2 things, they are further from the transfer port and get less turbulence in the skirt or they are seated into the lands of the rifling and are more accurate because of it. I'm leaning towards the second possibility as I noticed a difference in accuracy hand loading ammo for center fire rifles if the bullet was seated just into the lands.

You could try a pellet sizer to get a better fit for the pellets in your rifle.

Those looks as the original monsters (not redesigned) have a few jsb tins left, not as accurate as the redesigned in my barrels

I was looking at some pictures online and the Daystate version seems to have more of a waist and a skirt compared to the JSB pellets. I'll get out next week and try them out to see what they are like in my barrel.
