I like to loosen the air gauge , but only turn it 1/2 or 3/4
of a turn if you turn it like 3-4 revolutions it will let loose
and blow away from your gun . Good luck .

JFYI, the 2 piece fill assembly uses a couple of 1/8" BSP bonded seal washers, also called dowdy seals.

There is another bonded seal washer / dowdy seal under the air gauge (on my older AirWolf CDT) that seemed a bit smaller in size. I don't know the size.

When I loosened my gauge to empty the tank of air, this seal was ruined. Since I didn't have a replacement & wanted to shoot today, I removed the dowdy seal & dropped a silicon smeared A008 oring (ID 3/16" x OD 5/16" x CS 1/16) down into the hole where the threaded gauge shaft goes & tightened the gauge up as tight as I could by hand on top of the oring, followed by another 1/8 turn with a wrench, & it's holding just fine.
BTW, my BSA R10's use an oring in the bottom of the hole instead of a dowdy seal under the gauge face, so this is where I got the idea (I think Mrods & AA S4XX rigs seal their gauges the same way).

@fenderguy. I have had this happen several times. As have others here. To prevent it I have had to keep an eye on the detente tension ball on the top rear of the receiver.
It has to be adjusted from time to time. You'll know when it's time as the bolt will start to jump up more.
If the bolt retainer screw hasn't broke yet? Your lucky! its a pain in the %$$ to fix!
My theory of why this happens is. When the bolt is closed the pellet probe sits right over top of the transfer port. When the trigger is pulled that HPA launches the pellet and also hammers that probe causing it to jump, that in turn puts a lot of back pressure on the probe retaining screw / bushing. I have three of those little screws and bushing for spares!
Great time to change out the TP # 8 O rings though

I used a pin to stick the o ring and lift it up so I could cut it with an exacto knife.
