I saw the improvements that Soren Drost got with his Daystate Tuner.
I previously went along with the hype that came when FX released their Barrel tuner.
H.... of a lot of shots and no numbers to compare made it difficult to use. Also the next time i used the rifle it was not ........... arrrrgh.
So my FX barrel tuner like many others now lays in the drawer.
But....I find the idea that Daystate introduced much more interesting. I like the idea of rotating a weight around the barrel to compensate for some unwanted dynamic movements. So to test it out I started by designing and DIY 3d print one adapted for my Delta Wolf.
It is easy on DW there is an adapter for the Moderator with 4 flat surfaces that secures the tuner. I made 24 clear click settings and with numbers - so you can set it differently for different pellets /slugs. Or high fpe vs low fpr. I have not yet tested different pellets / slugs..
The first prototype I made space for a lead weight of 17 gram - and that i tested as below where . All shot 5 or more shots at the same target. (If i cant remember if i shot 4 or 5 i always took one ekstra shot) something happend at around 7 and 8 . I could repeat the result and the improvement. All shot .177 DW at 55 meter with 13.43 Knock out slugs. (I now updated so It can hold double lead)
Then I designed one specially adapted for my Redwolf:
And tested in my garden 34 meter with HN Baracuda FT shot at 700 fps (Quite gusty winds.)
This one is with 2 x17 gram lead weights
Here it was test shooting the settings again 5 shot minimum in each group.
When I reached no. 23 the group immediate improved significant so I kept on shooting to 10 shots in setting 23.
On setting 24 it was also a big improvement so i also shot 10 shots at no. 24 - I repeated again in no. 25 and the sighter next to it both again with 10 shots in each target.
That is more a significant improvement compared to what I ever saw with the FX Barrel tuner.
So Yesterday I also made a FX version with FX logo.
- All my rifles and barrels will get their dedicated Barrel Tuner.
It seems like the barrel tuners work very well and can lift a rifle accuracy.
If I had the money I would love to purchase a Daystate Tuner/moderator for each rifle and barrel. Unfortunate Daystate "forgot" to put on numbers on their 24 step barrel tuner,s so they are also more difficult to switch from rifle to rifle. I look forward to get out and test some more with the new Tuners.
But Daystate I promise i will buy one full set - Because they are awesome made and looks even more beautiful when you see them up close. And they are great moderators as well....
I recommend buying the Daystate Barrel tuner moderator combus any day......
This is how my table looks at the moment when I go full nerd....
