Daystate Pulsar HP .177

Tested the new NSA 12.5 gr and the older NSA 15.5 gr slugs at High power today. All targets at 30 yards. Will test at Med power later this week. I seemed to have to have a firmer shoulder fit for the slugs today.

Targets 1-10 are the NSA 15.5 gr. Targets 16-25 are the NSA 12.5 gr. 2 high shot on target #1 were scope adjustment shots. Target outliers are my fault, not fliers. All are 5 shot groups.

10 shots per different slug weight over FX chrony. Removed chrony for accuracy testing. NSA 15.5 average 894 fps, high 898 fps, low 891 fps, ES 7 fps and SD 2.3. NSA 12.5 average 972 fps, high 981 fps, low 970 fps, ES 11 fps and SD 3.6.

Overall I am pleased with slug performance at 30 yards. Will test on Med power later this week then step out to 50 yards sometime in the future.

O.K., I'm stepping out of my comfort zone. Been shooting nothing but 25 yards since I re-started air rifle shooting in July. Just trying to improve my technique and get some experience with the rifles.

But this morning I decided my project would be to take my range out as far as possible from my existing shooting position. Turns out I could get 45 yards if I cut into a big Rosemary hedge (had to maintain space to jockey around my little travel trailer in the back yard.)

So I now have a 25 and 45 yard range from the same shooting spot. Could get longer distances on the property but have to worry about background and possibly not seeing family or dog walking across the firing line. So I'll leave it at 45 for now.

Had to test my new range with the Pulsar after setting it up. Turned up power to high, shot 2 zeroing groups and then 4 groups for accuracy. I think I'm coming to grips with the gun, and was actually really happy with the performance. Winds were running 5-11 mph coming into my face slightly from the right of the target box. This is the first time I am dealing with more open conditions in my yard, and you can see from the pic that my weather station is pretty much perfectly situated to give me an accurate reading of conditions where shooting. This is too much fun, and I'm liking my Pulsar more the more I shoot it.

My new range:

Obviously I still need much practice and to gain more experience with my Pulsar, but I feel that things are going in the right direction and the Pulsar HP is quite a gun!😄

I like your range - especially your weather station/wind flag! It must be nice to get actual wind data in real time.

Very good shooting - I really like group #1 but they all look good.

I recommend you get some NSA 12.5 gr slugs. They are showing very good accuracy out of my Pulsar at 30 Yards on both Hi and Med settings. The older 15.5 also look good on Hi but NSA doesn't make them any more. I have ordered some of their new 15 gr slugs. I'll update once I can test them.

You right the Pulsar HP is a great PCP. - very happy that I took the chance on it.

Tested NSA 12.5 gr slugs at Med power on Wednesday at 30 yards. Was impressed with the performance. I shot 55 pellets from 230 BAR to 167 BAR. The first 5 shots were sighters and not shown. This time I had the FX chrony on for the 55 shots. Average velocity was 871 fps, hi was 881 fps, low was 865 fps, ES 16 fps and SD was 3.5. I was very pleased with the consistent slug performance over a 55 shot string. Target #10 was fired very fast because I was trying to beat a thunder storm (and it shows). Adjusted scope between target #1 and #2. Not going to test the NSA 15.5 slugs because they are no longer available.

Over all I'm am very happy with the Pulsar HP performance with heavy pellets and the NSA slugs. I may buy a tuner to adjust the Low power down to shot 10.3 gr pellets a little slower but beyond that this is the least pellet/slug picky .177 rifle (at 30 yards) I've had or have. Next step is to push out to 50 yards.

TMH - hopefully I can duplicate your 45 yard performance at 50 yards.

ES of 16 fps over 55 shots - God bless that MCT!

I'm sure my 'results' are easily duplicated. I need to get over that gun a bit more and shoot it in less breezy conditions. I will have the time since I don't have the right rings to mount the scope on my new Wolverine R HP, which arrived yesterday.

But I'm still trying to get my shooting bench and equipment set up better for my needs and build. After shooting yesterday (different gun) I am so sore between my shoulder blades that I'm not even going to shoot today.

First world problems, I know...😄
