Daystate Red Wolf .25 Standard

hummmm. I've got a Red Wolf walnut in 22 caliber. That HP is a bit confusing. If you would be needing a 25 why wouldn't you buy the HP and get as much bang as you can? PLUS if you'd ever want to sell it I'd think it would be an advantage. I'm saying this as an opinion but it's really more of a question.

I do really like my Red Wolf (Walnut) can't go wrong. 22 caliber with the heavy pellets hits pretty hard.

I have on order a cricket in 25 because I wanted a bull pup and this Daystate is too pretty to be banging around hunting with.

If a relatively compact form factor is desired, the RW HP is a long beast, indeed. Not what I would consider ideal for a walk in the woods. Even the standard RW is a fair bit of a beast. I had the standard for a short bit and have the HP .22 now. RW is great on the bench, though. And the .22HP puts a bit of a squeeze on the viability of the .25. I think that’s why you see so many people buying the RW .22HP.

For a woods walker, though, compact is much better. I think a semi-bullpup like the Bantam Sniper HR would be a great choice. And the shroud moderator in the Sniper has resulted in such a quiet rifle that many wouldn’t even feel the need for an add-on moderator.

Or a Wildcat MkII.

I do not like airguns as long as Kentucky rifles

So what if they have two zip codes, doesn't sound like they fit your needs and had nothing to do with the question. 😈

My Red Wolf, I won't be taking for a walk in the woods, I bough a Brocock Bantam in .25 cal for that. I can hold the grip swing my arm and not know the moderator off. I'm right at 6'.

The Red Wolf in .22HP has more pellet choices than the .25s at this point as well. Heavy to light in the .22, pick your poison.

i have the serie rosso .22 standard. had a red wolf .22HP. did not like the broomstick long barrel, especially with the moderator. i gave up some velocity, but my 50 yard paper targets don't care. both rifles shoot / shot under a half inch at 50. love the looks of the standards.

I find it somewhat amusing that in a thread like this where the OP ask about a specific gun in a specific caliber there are still those who instead of answering the query of the OP feel a need to try to sell the OP a different platform. ;)

Glad that we've been able to keep you amused! ;)

The OP said that he doesn't want a long rifle. Standard Red Wolf with moderator is a long rifle. HP version is even longer, very long with moderator. (I've had a Red Wolf and now have a RW .22HP, so some experience with these. They're great rifles, but not a great choice for someone who wants a handy/nimble/maneuverable rifle. I think they're best suited to bench use. Just my personal opinion.)

THUS, some of us are suggesting shorter rifles! And why not? It makes good sense if the OP doesn't want a long rifle.

So... how about a Pulsar in .25 caliber! Much like a Red Wolf, but very short! There ya go! ;)

Well, it should be mentioned, the Pulsar is a very heavy gun. So, how about a Wildcat MkII in .25 caliber? Or a Bantam Sniper HR in .25 caliber?

Just some food for thought, folks... AND, trying to keep T3PRanch amused! :)
