Daystate Daystate revere .177

Hello guys,
I just bought a new revere .177 from aoa,
And after first tank I realized the sound of the rifle changed,
Upon inspection a portion of o-ring that holds the transfer port in place was sticking out just under the barrel breach port!!!
Called Aoa and they said it happens after every 600 or shots!!!
They are sending me some spare o-rings and if that won’t work,
I can send the rifle back to Aoa,
Now my question to all u guys who use these pcp’s
Since this is my first ever pcp,
Why manufacturer has this portion shaved off at the entrance bottom part of the barrel port which is letting the o-ring slip out under pressure???

My Revere has mostly been shot SST, but i did some magazine testing. The rifle is far more accurate with the factory magazine compared to the CARM I have for it. It’s funny, because in my P35 25cal and Notos the CARM are superior. My bullshark 177 shoots the same with all the different magazines I have for it.
The CARM are not great with slugs in my bullshark.

I think this Croatian guy adapted the design of weihrach magazine using o ring style to hold pellets in place but doesn’t work at all for slugs,
the o ring is pushing the slug in one direction inside the mag which causing the probe to damage the skirt of the slug!!!

The zan 10.03
and jsb knockout 10.3
both were spot on.
one thing I don’t understand is the
fps were around 810-820ish…
even though these slugs are lighter in weight compare to jsb heavy 10.34 which gets me about 850 fps!!!
Very strange…
The Bullshark is my 177 KO slug shooter and I got some great magazines made by Spike_9. I tested all the major 177 slugs in 20% gel. KO’s are the best expansion, ZAN Second, varmint knockers third and that’s where I will leave it if you want an expanding slug

Ok guys a little update on my revere .177,
just got it back after 2 weeks from Aoa,
apparently the repair guy at Aoa said that the brass bushing that sits on the tp was undersized from factory and they just replaced it with bigger size and tested about 50 shots using 16grain pellets to stress test the rifle, the rifle held its seals with no problem.
i just shot like 4 13 shot mags through it using 10.3 grain and it is functioning fine…
quick note;
this revere does shoot slugs much better than my fx drs.
I don't buy it that Daystate put an undersized brass bushing in the gun at the factory.

Funny u brought this up,
I had a chance to physically see the original tp brass bushing and when the repair was done by aoa i did request the repair guy to send me a spare brass bushing that he installed and he did,
and I can tell u with proof that the replaced brass bushing is beefier than the one I saw when I opened the rifle to reseat the oring.
even the aoa guy said just consider it bad luck and that with daystate that is Avery rare case.
all I care is that Aoa fixed it with warranty and it works actually better than before.

Thanks for quick reply sir,
But can u tell why that part of barrel is shaved off which is letting the o ring slip out??
To answer your question, the shaved out portion is a carry over from the older Huntsman Regal. The Regal used the older style of magazines with a different indexing system. Here's a pic of my Regal...

When you pull the bolt back all the way, the portion circled in red indexes the magazine to advance for the next shot. The Revere does not have this indexing lever in the breech so now it's just an empty space and they just continued to mill out the barrels with that flat area. Hope this helps.

Wow,
Never knew that,
so now I m getting the feeling I just bought something which is kind of super out dated air rifle,
not taking anything away from this rifle in terms of accuracy and fit and finish but a company that said they redesigned this new regulated revere for us market from ground up and all that side lever cocking
instead of bolt action is all bs then,
bastards are still using a barrel design that is like what 20 years old or maybe more!!!!
that’s not cool at all man!!!
I feel bummed now…

If you are that dis-happy, send the gun to me.
I need a good feeling bummed moment,
PM me for my address

My 2012 FX Cutlass is also very basic in its indexing system, which are pretty much like children's cap pistols
But it do work just fine, and the old rifle can still carry itself with dignity to 50 M against my other newer and more fancy - smancy rifles.

The Cyclone dont even have a wind up magazine, just a round fat disk with some holes in it, and then some groves for the basic indexing system.

Pretty normal, with slugs having more bearing surface or contact, it will fire a bit slower.

Allen

the reason the slugs are slower is simple friction there is more of the slugs touching the rifling than the pellets do

Beat me to it! 😆

You should change your thinking as follows:

My Revere is the latest refinement of the Daystate Huntsman line of rifles. Its one of the finest air rifles ever produced.

(Are you certain that you saw Daystate market a Hunsman rifle as “redesigned from the ground up?)

If its not broke why fix it. The Daystate is laser beam accurate. Be happy!

He is a good reviewer.

This is the Huntsman Revere description from Daystate’s website. They speak of 40 years of progression across 7 versions… they also speak of “further development of hammer and valve” along with adding a regulator….

Daystate themselves don’t mention a “ground up redesign” - at least not in the Revere product description on their website.

I like that my Regal has so many years of refinement behind it.

It is a gentleman's rifle. Start drinking with your pinky up and it will start to grow on you more. Super smooth action, laser accurate barrel, air conservative tuning, classic lines and wood. What more could you want. Almost every mag fed gun has a spring loaded dial magazine. It works as intended. AoA got you sorted out now get some use out of the rifle and have fun.

My Revere did the same thing. 18 ft/ibs with 10,34grain JSBs and only 14 ft/ibs with ZANs 20grain. However I turned on some more hammerspring and the +20grainers are doing 23 ft/ibs and yet the 10,34grainers do only 20 ft/ibs. BTW you have a great slugshooter. I shoot heavy ZANs all day...
