Daystate vs FX in 177, Anyone???

Just checking to see if there would be any interest in a comparison between a FX M3 in 177 vs a Delta Wolf in 177? I already own the FX but just purchased a Delta Wolf from AOA a few days ago. I haven't received yet but pretty excited to see what the fuss is all about. I've never owned a Daystate b4 so this is my first. I could do some 30yrd/ 50yrd and 75yrd groups (backyard range) with each and see how they stack up. The FX has the 600mm and the Delta has a 580ish mm barrel so will be close to each other. Can also do some slug testing and just some overall thoughts of how they compare and function. Hopefully will have the gun sometime beginning next week. If there's something anyone would like to see let me know. I'll post some pics as soon as it comes in!!!

Sounds like an interesting comparison to me.

I have an FX M3 in .22 and a Daystate Revere in .22. Kind of hard to compare those two, but I love them both!

One thing I will say the M3 is a tinkerers gun while the Revere is not. Both very accurate rifles though...

Try shooting the 30 Yard Target in the competition thread. I like this better than 5 shot group shooting.

I own both, also. I've always thought of the FX Impact as an airgun marvel. And the M3, the most recent iteration, is the best of the lot - a superb airgun.
My Daystate Delta Wolf in .177 cal is a pleasure to shoot. I'm able to get nice 5 shot groups at 100 yards with JSB 13.4 gr pellets. This achievement is not something I've been able to accomplish with all of my other air rifles. Tuning the Delta Wolf is a breeze using the onboard computer.
The Delta Wolf does not suffer from any identity crisis. I
t knows it is a small bore air rifle.😉
Congrats on a great acquisition.

I feel daystate has always had the leg up in .177. The only FX I’ve had the pleasure of shooting in .177 is a dreamline tactical sub 12. It was a laser for sure, but I feel as they go up in power, they lose their accuracy in .177. Daystate started in the .177 game, and have perfected it. I don’t think FX even wants to touch them. They love their larger caliber high horsepower guns!

hey @Ed24 ! Congrats on the ECU Champ, the Daystate Wolf!!
I've been a FX Fan but at the same time, a critic too, as to why what's possible with the latest tech (and the ecu isn't new, we're using packaged controls from ages into Cars, Industrial Controls, etc.) hasn't been adopted by them, maybe it isn't in their design philosophy...
I recently got the Maverick and yet spent over few weeks to find the Pulsar if it was available before making the transaction, but none of the known dealers here (India) nodded to get the Wolf for me. The nearest was in Lahore, Pakistan, so gave up.

Anyways, for Your comparison that You might wanna consider this from my wishlists...
-> for the highest weight pellet in .177 that's available affordably keep Your FX Tuned to zero at 50 yards (or meters if You prefer metric).
Would want You to take it to highest velocity You can without affecting zero, Note the Lowest, and the Highest Velocity.
Now run a full dump of the bottle topped up to 250bar, (don't know if that's a 580cc You got?) down to the lowest Velocity number You noted earlier when You can no more maintain zero. Record the Shot Counts.
-> Repeat above with the Wolf
-> Repeat the exercise with Lowest weight Slug that's available on both the rifles.
Outcome would look like (i might be missing other important data points in the table - Excel Attached):
#RifleProjectile Weight
(Grains)
Projectile TypeProjectile Brand & Variant50m Zero
(Velocity - VL)
Time spent
(In achieving zero for VL in Minutes)
50m Zero
(Velocity - VH)
Time spent
(In achieving zero for VH in Minutes)
Bottle Topped-Up Pressure
(Safe - Highest)
Bottle Pressure
(Lowest - for No Velocity Loss - VL)
Shot Count
(No Velocity Loss)

True words, FX has pivoted to the US market where bigger, faster, stronger dominate marketing budgets. Frankly, it’s where the volume is and thus the largest profits are to be had.

Daystate has remained more true to their home market but even they are chasing US dollars with bigger and better to some extent. Only Weihrauch hasn’t gone down the power route but for how much longer?

The M3 is something else. I have mainly been shooting slugs with it. The gun is still new to me and my first Impact. I wanted to try some 10gr JSB today when I got home from work. My "shooting reg" is about 110bar. Loaded in some 10gr JSB pellets and was around 1050fps way to fast! Dropped the power wheel to 1 and closed off the valve 250fps. What other gun can you do that with in a matter of seconds??? I wish I had my slug barrel to try out! I pre ordered over a year ago and still waiting but won't get started down that road.🤐 Have you tried any slugs in your Delta Wolf?

@Ed24 i know i've made a huge demand with this :p
Just a check, You'll need to tune that electronic beast when it arrives, to Your likes, ditching the factory tune-templates (3 of them i guess), if You haven't previously custom-tuned DayStates, Steve's video might come handy....

Slugs? A work-in-progress.
The challenge is part of the attraction. Right?

I am shooting .177 slugs in my Daystate Delta Wolf .177 HP with great accuracy 🎯 (y)

It really likes JSB KO 13.43 gr and also ZAN 13 gr and 16 gr slugs :)

Soren, thx for the info. Will definitely give them a shot! Have you tried the H&N 16gr? I bought about 6 tins and haven't found anything that shoots them well yet!

Actually I helped H&N test the .177 slugs 🎯 :)

Shot them all in my Daystate Red Wolf .177 HP, Delta Wolf .177 HP and RTI Prophet Performance .177

My MKII I setup and tuned tonight for JSB KO 13 43 @ 1030. Will check accuracy next week. Your 920 group is very impressive. Looks like I have a baseline to match 😊
Nice tune and shooting @SorenDrost
Looking forward to seeing you at EBR.

Patrick

As mentioned in other posts. The Daystate Revere shoots slugs accurately at low speeds. If it could be pumped higher I am sure it would do well too. My Revere prefere Zan slugs over the JSB slugs. The different 20grain slugs groups shown here I changed my grip. The not-so-good-group I had a pillow under the forarm. The better group I had my hand holding the forarm which have been steadier. So there is a hold-sensitivity of gun too.
