Daystate Wolverine .303 question.

For those in the know...

I've been drooling over these rifles for some time now. But I can't help but wonder about the ammunition. 
Daystate makes the Emperor .303 ammo which (obviously) are in .303 caliber.
JSB and others makes .30 cal ammo
I've read that there can be a significant difference going from say, a 5.52 to a 5.53 in some rifles. 

Q- What are you shooting with your .303? 
Does it only shoot the Emperor pellets or will a JSB .30cal work just as well? It LOOKS like they are both 7.62mm but the pic I'm looking at is blurry. 
How do the two pellets compare when put up against each other, long distance accuracy wise? 

How do I buy a Wolverine without my wife killing me? Perhaps a trip back to Hawaii....

I shoot the JSB and the FX pellets in my bobcat. I've tried the emperor pellets as well. In my cat, the accuracy of either of these pellets is more or less the same. A few mm here or there which can be attributed to shooter error. With all these pellets, I've managed to get sub 1 inch groups at 112 yards. Never tried any longer than that. When I buy pellets in bulk, I prefer the JSB given their easy availability. 

Wrt the wife, for every gun you buy, there is a direct correlation to the number of trips you have to take her for. Simple formula.

A second hand quality air rifle will likely end up costing nothing because you'll get your money back when resold. That should be an easy sell to your wife.

From my understanding JSB and Daystate developed the 30 cal pellet and rifle in conjunction. At the time it was a new caliber. The Daystate pellets are made by JBS.

The wife issue. Find a retailer that is selling them, then do as I do. Give them a little money at a time to 'pay it off' and when you finally have the order finished spread over a period of time, you will hardly notice the money gone.

I borrow a very expensive item from a friend... 2or 3 times the cost of what I really want. I tell my wife I want this one, and how much it will cost. After she returns to consciousness, I tell her she's right and I will settle for 1 that costs a fraction as much. She is relieved and happy, and so am I.

Then you could always brag on your friend's wife for letting him get an expensive gun, but that is not without risk.

Thanks for all the responses guys! 
I was more questioning the use of ".303" which equals 7.6962 whereas .30 would equal 7.62. So, it's confusing. 
There's an FX Boss .30 which is 7.62 and uses 7.62 ammo.
Then there's a RAW HM1000X in .30 cal which is 7.62 and uses 7.62 ammo.

But, then there's this Daystate Wolverine 303 which is advertised as being .303 caliber which is 7.6962. But it uses 7.62 ammo????? 
So as it reads, the Daystate would seem to shoot ammo that is 0.0762mm too small. Then there's posts about what a difference going from 5.52 to 5.53 made in XXXX rifle.

Tom.Daystate called it a .303 for advertising purposes and it's a familiar English caliber that harkens back to the famous .303 Enfield. It's bore is .300 if I recall.

Bobcat 30 any day. More tactical, lighter in weight and shoots like a dream. The wolverine is more preferable for those who like long guns, don't mind the weight. In the field, the cat is far easier to manuver than the wolverine.

I would go with the Wolverine .303 since I prefer a traditional long rifle over bull pups.

I went with the Wolverine for the additional power. Mine came shooting the 44 grain JSB pellets at 980 fps.

I like traditional and haven't shot an air bullpup. Only bullpup I had access to was an F&N P90

Anyone know off the top of their heads what the barrell length is on the Wolverine and the Bobcat?

I just purchased a wolverine 303 HP yesterday. I was looking at the Bobcat 30 at the same time. They both have 24 inch barrels. I chose the Wolverine for the extra power. I was shooting a 50 .15 gran jsb at 920 ft per second.

No one could dispute the accuracy of the bobcat. The FX smooth twist Barrel was designed around jsb pellets. I'm interested to try different types of airgun slugs in the daystate Wolverine 303. I do have to say that the Wolverine is almost too pretty to hunt with...almost.

I still have a couple tins of Daystate Emperor and they are the same shape and size as the JSB 50 grain which are different in shape and size than the JSB 44s.

The Emperors and the JSB 50s both shoot accurately and the performance data over the chrony and drop in trajectory are not statistically different out of my bobcat .30. Both shoot at 83 fpe

never got a chance to really try out the 50 gr in my new .30 Impact. Impact wasn't feeling very well after shooting the 44s and had to go back for warranty service.

photos left to right: JSB 44.75, JSB 50.15, Emperor 50.15 , FX boss 46.30. The most visible difference is the FX Boss which is darker in color and likely different alloy and Lube. The heads and skirts on the two 50s look identical and are different than the 44 and fx.

Regarding 7.62 vs .303 the Emperor label lists both.

You might look into Bob's Boattails. I have a .30 Flex with a TJ barrel. It loves 68 grain hollowpoint Bob's BTs. I launch them at 890fpe for 110fpe. They are sized to .300.

It's funny you mention that. I was just thinking 2 days ago that the ballistic coefficient of pellets must be low. I reload and use boat tail bullets for better long-range performance and was wondering to myself what other pellet options are available...
I will definitely look at Bobs BT's. Thank you very much for the information.
