Daystate Wolverine B Chrony Testing and Comparison - The Data Speaks!

NERD alert:

Regarding the Wolverine using less air per shot because of it operating at a higher pressure level I did some math and came up with the following:

Wolverine: 500 cc bottle. 84 shots use 60 bar: 500cc x 60 = 30 Liters of air used. 30 / 84 = 0.357 Liters of air per shot.
S510: 287 cc cylinder, 29 shots use 40 bar: 287 x 40 = 11.48 Liters of air used. 11.48 / 29 = 0.395 Liters of air per shot.

Since the s510 is shooting a heavier pellet at roughly the same velocity as the wolverine the use of air is about the same for both rifles. (when looking at delivered energy per amount of air used)

18.1 / 15.9 = 1.138 x the weight. So if the wolverine shot the 18.1 grain pellet it would use approx: 1.138 x 357 cc = 407 cc

I know that the s510 has gotten a slightly longer (about 20" vs 17") barrel but the differences are minimal IMO

I dumped my .25 50# Air Ranger due to it's wide velocity curve and high air consumption. While the curve might of been able to be tightened the high air consumption is the nature of the beast.
Crickets and Edguns run that velocity with a much higher shot count and lower velocity spread.
Less wasted air to try and quiet
The Alteros reg. is a option but not an ideal placement just screwing it in between the action and tank. The added length doesn't look good and in my case the Hugget shroud didn't allow for that added length.
Daystate should of long ago out a reg. in their mechanical guns that isn't just a after thought but designed right in.
Often companies get defensive about suggested "improvements" because they knee jerk reaction is it is an attack on their current technology or being.
I love Daystate rifles but won't be buying one of their mechanical guns until it is reg'd.

Hi Matt

I use a HuMa air regulator in my rifle. Really happy with it. They also seem to make a regulator for the air arms s510. Don' t know if it wilI fit your particular model. Shoot them a email the're always quick to respond.

I didn't see how to order nor prices for their regulators. Do they have a different page in order to place orders?
