Hello AirgunNation Peoples,
Introducing the “Deadly “SYN” Assassination Squad” known for their black “SYN” (synthetic) attire, and the ruthless elimination of a marked target (Starlings, Squirrels, & Pigeons are their specialty), and hard hitting near silent operation!
The element of surprise...
The ice cold stare they give a shot Starling!
Just kidding, Kill Bill 1 & 2 are two of my favorite movies!! Lolololol!
Seriously, today was a day for “SYN” aka my synthetic stocked FX airguns. To lighten the blow of self quarantine I stretched the legs of my three synthetic airguns today. All 3 are tuned for power so I loaded up with Monster and Heavy JSB pellets and printed some 10 shot groups at 50 and 100 yards. At the backyard range. The gusty winds grew worse as the session progressed.
Winds @ 11:00am
Each airgun topped off beforehand.
First up, the FX Dreamline Classic .177
Ammo: JSB Exact Monster 13.43gr
50 yard target, 10 shot group
100 yard target, 10 shot group
Winds @ 12:00pm (noon) increasing
Second up, the FX DreamPup .22
Ammo: JSB Exact Jumbo Monster Redesigned 25.39gr
50 yard target, 10 shot group
100 yard target, 10 shot group
Winds @ 1:00pm increasing still
Third up, the FX Crown .25
The Crown .25 only recently became a “SYN” (synthetic), after finding a offer I could not refuse on a pre-owned synthetic stock from AOA! (in excellent condition) Just $149! The 7 coats of clear gloss (plus sanding) on the original walnut stock I delicately refinished is too fine for the woods. Now, she is ready for the elements!
Ammo: JSB Exact King Heavy MKI 33.95gr
50 yard target, 10 shot group
100 yard target, 10 shot group
Full 50 yard targets and gong sighters
Full 100 yard targets and gong sighters
To wrap up, the wind reeked havoc on the .177 and .22 100 yard groups, but not on the fun I had shooting them. The Crown had the weight on it’s side for wind bucking. My first love for hunting ammo choices for these three critter getters is a good old heavy JSB pellet! I wouldn’t push the Dreamline Classic .177 much past 50 yards for real world hunting. The DreamPup .22 is more of a 75 - 80 yard and in sniper, but the Crown .25 is the one I’d comfortably attempt a kill shot at 100 or more with the King Heavy Diabolo’s.
Hope you folks are breaking the monotony with some airgun fun of your own in these crazy times!
Stay safe. Stay home. Stay smart.
