Other Death of the springer

Those are pretty low numbers, and the gasoline quip is just folly, TBH. My HW95L .22 cal in factory trim would shoot Exact 15.89's at 650 fps, and FTT 14.66's at 705 fps.

My Cometa 400 .22 cal in factory trim would shoot Exact 15.89's at 680 fps and FTT 14.66's at 740 fps.

All numbers rounded down averages.

Indeed the numbers are low and the gasoline quip was folly.

The rest of my guns shoot at or near the expected velocity for my altitude. For instance the Cometa 400 shot at 740fps. For many thousands of shots. It has definitely slowed down a bit. The new seal helped and its back up to about 680. I didn't replace the gas ram... that may be the culprit. It shoots great the way it is and I'm not planning on replacing the ram any time soon.

The HW's shoot great but I've never got one to go anywhere near 700 even with a new seal and Vortek spring. The HW95 shoots faster than it ever has. I'm getting a solid 660 with very little deviation, and that is about what I expect at 4k f.a.s. I'd like 700 but I'm just not going to get it without installing nitrous and porting the heads.

I'll be installing an ARH spring kit and a vortek seal in the HW97k right after Christmas and see if I can't get it shooting 660, too. It's only shooting a bit too slow and is amazingly accurate, but I'm going to throw a hundred bucks at it anyway just for kicks.

If I can't get 660 out of them, I'm going to pack the skirts with vaseline and go for 725.

Too bad water injection wouldn't work when shooting at higher altitude... 🤣

Seems displacement is your springers friend when the air is thin.
Isn’t water injection mainly a diesel modification meant to raise efficiency and lower exhaust temperature? I’m having trouble seeing where it would cause anything other than rust in a springer.

propane injection makes more sense for diesels and springers .. oxy-cet is even bettter
I’m not a diesel expert, but I’d be thinking on similar lines regarding springers. From what I’ve observed just horsing around with potato guns and inflated plastic bags, propane seems to produce much lower pressures and would be much less likely to damage the rifle or require a radical redesign.

yea im not sure.. I know oxy cet has a pretty good affect on velocity.. Propane under adiabatic heating might be more powerful than simple combustion,, Helium in the swept chamber would have a dramatic effect, essentially making a poor mans light gas gun

It's a joke... referring to water injection for jet engines. Helped to increase thrust temporarily during takeoff.

Central Iowa

I have a friend in Morse, LA
Good morning.
Gathered around the fire this morning and one of the fellow employees said one of his X bosses gave the crew stuffed chickens from over near Lafayette area. I asked from Elliots in Morse La? He said no. I asked, are you familiar with Morse? He said my daddy was born there, and Elliots meat market is great, he added. Lol
He is a Chaison a pretty Cajun name.

Here's another one of those ole dead springers!

Maybe the reason springers are dying is because they're so ugly? I mean they have that prehistoric looking wood and Iron! No hoses tubes knobs or atractive thingy's?

I sponsored them here lately! Lol
