Using the fixture and clamps I cut earlier this week. Cutting an aluminum bracket.
Indexed and clamped ready to be cut.
Holes drilled and bored to size.

Yes, you are right, and with the small cutter, rigidity would not be a problem. The brass machined really nice.

Put the brass banding iron on the stove top for a bit to get it hot and give it a test. I'm happy with it!

Thanks for sharing your journey. I’m surprised you are cutting metal on a wood framed machine. What are your typical cut depths and step overs? What do you estimate your precision tolerances are?

I switch to a 3 flute and that smoothed out the climb cutting on the roughing passes.
On the aluminum was using an .060 axial depth of cut and an .025 radial depth of cut. Slow much gets the job done.

Wow, this is awesome stuff! I know a lot of Taipan Veteran owners don't like the blocky stock. I bet we could round up 10 of them that would go for a more svelte design.
