HW/Weihrauch Decision Time - .20 HW77K vs .22 HW77

Hey all,

I’ve been kicking around this idea in my head for a few months now, thinking about what I want my next air rifle to be. I’ve narrowed down on a HW77 or K model.

On the shelf there’s a K model in .20 and a long model in .22. I cannot for the life of me decide between the two.

My ideal shooting looks like 25-100 meters. Primarily targets. Maybe a squirrel or hare if they make it too easy to resist. Planning to use a AirForce TS1 rear diopter and a globe up front. Shooting from all positions.

So the question comes down to how the .22 and .20 will compare at 100m and the offhand shooting of the long and K model.

Any words of wisdom from the HW owners out there?

Thanks everyone!

The long barrel model, while superior for sight span, would be at a disadvantage in 22 caliber. To much “shot time” (time the pellet is in the barrel) to hold steady. And I am a 22 fan. If the price/availability for the 20 caliber pellets doesn’t bother you, then that would be my choice.

I'm partial to the .20 cal😜
But 100m is a serious poke for either and the .22 is going to drop off quicker than the .20!
If you can swing it buy both and do a shoot off! Lol
Can’t swing both, as much as I would love to!

The .22 is listed for €513 new here in the EU.

The .20 would be just below $1000 (subtotal $730) by the time it’s shipped from the US and paid VAT.

.20 cal
Don't know how it is there for you but .22 I can walk in and buy local .. .20 not hardly. So for ammo choice and convenience .22 all the way .. lol
In Finland finding any ammo that isn’t Gamo is hard. JSBs can be had online, but brick and mortar is very unlikely. 10m rules the waves here. Lots of R10 match and Meisters, H&N finale etc.

I can have anything I want shipped from Germany though. Krale really is amazing.

The 77 .20 is on my list as well, the only cal. I’m missing. I do have them both in the 97’s and absolutely favor the .20 cal. I’ve never shot them 100 meters.
I can’t explain why but all my .20 cal. seem to have an advantage. Good luck. Crow
Thanks Crow!

I bet those .20s benefit from lower production scale. You’re only making 100 of something, you pay more attention than if you’re making 100,000
