Definition of "Long Range"?

I know, It's really blowing my head at the mo. This should not be, but it is...The itch keeps getting bigger..I have been down the R&D rabbit hole for well over a year now. First up was the barrel whip issue on the impact..So I made a super sweet carbon fibre R&D one, with the thought process of keeping the centra of gravity lower and looking super cool and being needed. But not forgetting it's about harmonics resonance nodes and anti-nodes and all that good science stuff...Hence barrel tuners. then on my list was the moderator side of things...Scrubbing air and MOA plus one of my shoots is were they breed race horses..Scatty at the best of times. So again a carbon fibre r&d one has been running for over a year..I'm at 145g's and 34 db at the mo....The g's should come down soon, just needed to prove the internal design concepts which I'm at now...Long road but well worth it!

For me it was 300 plus yards. However I had a background in PB long range shooting with blackpowder Sharps rifles and a 1100 yard range with a steel 700lb Buffalo at the end.
My personal best, utubed, was 615 yards busting a 12 oz cola can in 2013 with my cast bullets in a Haley 257 Scandalous, I also had 500 and 550 yard videos doing the same thing.
At the time, I lived on a vineyard and worked as a pester using airguns, I cast daily, weighed and sorted then shot groups at 300 yards on steel and posted them on the old Yellow Forum as Unrentantsinner.

Long range depends on the gun. An English .177 is 50+. A 30fpe in .22 85+. A 50 Fpe Slugs in .22 125+. Big Bore slugs is 150+. Everything else is 100+

I would agree with the previous posts defining 'long range' as being the practical limits of the equipment.
Long targets in Field Target are 50-55 yards with sub 20fpe rifles, generally using .177.
Extreme Field Targets max out at 100 yards, allowing up to .30 caliber and significantly more power.
Agreed, its a equipment sensitive definition.

Not sure those are right now fella, As i'm out at 180 yards with clean impacts! I think long range with the technology in our rifles projectiles and shooting aids are pushing those boundaries right out there by fools like me willing to spend the time! Lol...Love it...Keep on pushing out!

I've taken my little mostly factory 1377 out to 80 yds. in a 10 mph xwind shooting a 12" serving plate using the front sight height vs sight radius for elevation (total of 80 MOA) and guessing for wind (shoulda' calcd. it too with Chairgun). But after several attempts I kept trusting Chairgun for elevation and just kept walking them in horizontally, and finally hit it, then several hits. Can't think of anything more fun really. Who cares how far you're shooting your AG as long as you're having fun doing it?
