Yesterday was the first competition at DCFS for the airgun range in 2019.We shot a 66 shot field target match but we held it on the airgun target range instead of down in the woods on one of the two AAFTA field courses @ DCFS. The thought was if we end up getting some typical foul March weather, we could still shoot from under the target ranges over hang awning. Turned out to be a beautiful but cold day with 20 + mph swirling winds to add to the challenge. The course was laid out with a Troyer rating of 27 to make things fun and relaxed for all. Though with the wind the rating was a bit higher than that. 10 guys showed up to compete and it turned out that we had some really good scores considering the wind. Patience was the theme of the day and waiting for that 3 to 4 second break in the wind to get your shot off. A second to long and the wind was back and your shot was an inch off.
Before I get into the scores I'd like to thank a couple folks for their help. Rich Bassett from Falls Township club came out at 7:30 to help me set up the course, and Mike Harris helped me take it back down. Thank guys much appreciated for sure. Mark Mayer from the DIFTA club for driving up for the day and trying one of our shoots. Hope to see you back again and would like to come down and try your course. Josh Smith who came out ( finally lol) and shot the winning score in Hunter-Piston with his 12ft.lbs Pro Sport. And just everyone else for a great day of shooting and having a good time.
