Would like to hear pro’s and con’s from those that have gone down either road. Looking to reduce length to either an FX 500mm or LW 17’’ with the intent of shooting lighter weight .25 hunting pellets / dome (25gr to 28gr). Only using advanced mode, so am fine with ditching the chrony for 1/2 threading. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Sounds like you already knew this but I was surprised when I went looking just now and found that the .25 Ghost barrel kits are not offered in the "Carbine" or "Plus" lengths, only a 23."
Unfortunate, cuz a Ghost Plus length barrel in .25 would be exactly what you're looking for.

Yup, I reached out to BRK some months back asking if they would ever make a .25 in 17’’ and met a hard “no’.

My guess on their reasoning is the trends for "mo power" and cries for "SLUGS, SLUGS, SLUGS" that seem to be so prevalent. Not saying I agree with all that, but I suspect that's the "why".

Fx superior liners are very versatile. As long as you can reinforce them and make them more rigid. The rifling design alone is a big advantage, very similar to some of the polygonal barrels I believe are used on the red wolf's
