Depressurize an air tank?

this is a curiousity question, if i desired to lower pressure in my carbon fiber tank, say , down to 500-1000 PSi for the purpose of selling / shipping. can i just insert a fill probe into the hose and barely crack open the valve on it? my omega has a plug that can be put in the hose end to check tank pressure, which would enable me to measure tank pressure. obviously, you would not crank the valve wide open! Just enough to break "the seal". would this work?

Sure … just open the valve and release as much air as you think necessary. Check the amount left in the tank by putting a dead head in the quick release on the hose and stop at the desired pressure. If you leave the valve open long enough with air flying out of the tank ice crystals will form all over the din valve. Strange but true.

Or put the dead head in for pressure check and use the bleed. Valve.

Why do you need to insert a fill prob to release air from the tank? Just open the valve on the tank and air will come out. And yes it's safe. Nothing wrong with it.

was not sure, that's why i posted, before i go mucking around with HPA tank. thanks all for the info.
