Depressurizing AirForce Talon SS

AGN Members,

I added a Altaros Regulator from TalonTunes to my Talon SS. I need to readjust Regulator . In order to do this I have to remove it. How do I depessurize the tank? With 2000+ Psi I am a bit edgy on doing this. (AirForce Say's DO NOT dry fire) Loosen explosion disc screw a bit or slowly unscrew Top Hat valve from Regulator til it leaks slowly ?
BTW, Without the regulator I was getting 790-830 FPS Power wheel set at #8. I set the Altaros to 125 BAR now getting 640 FPS. Small change increase (650 FPS) at #10. Another Problem is My YH now shows 3000 Psi and the Talon only 2000 Psi, Altaros 140 BAR. Any knowledge on these questions greatly appreciated.

Airforce suggests shooting the gun down to take the pressure to 200-300 psi.

Using the fill fitting that screws to the end of the bottle, the fitting you can't use after you add the regulator, insert a penny or a dime into that fitting and screw it down onto the tophat. It will empty that bottle just fine. You just can't use it to FILL the bottle.

Well mine is pretty old so YMMV.

If I pull the unused AirForce fill port wouldn't that dump the air under pressure ? is there a check valve in the Altaros ? So much I don't know.

This is what the Altaros Regulator looks like installed

*Note The Altaros pressure has now risen to 200 BAR. The AirForce gage is just below 2000 PSI but the Compressor was showing 3000 PSI.

It is a fitting with standard nipple on it. Back in the day you screwed that down over the top hat and attached your fill hose to it. Pressure build up opened the top hat and you filled through it.

Max at AirForce gave me the answer this morning. Talon, Talon SS, Talon P, Condor, Condor SS, Escape & EscapeUL, Escape SS Can be 'Dry Fired' to degas.
For Texan's There are different methods. Thanks to all.

Just trying to learn how thing's work, I took the no longer needed Talon fill port out. Didn't find an O-Ring but some black chewed-up thread like material.
Anyone know how to seal the Talon fill port ? I'm now thinking of a pipe plug? I've got to stop digging the holes I keep putting myself in LOL.
I did learn that by loosening the fill port a little you can bleed off the remaining bit of air.

Talon SS fill valve is leaking around the threads, How to seal? Didn't see an O-Ring . I stopped the thread leak with PTFE thread tape, Found the valve was also leaking at the valve fill hole check valve AAARGH!!!!

I took the fill valve apart. Inspected everything. Not much to it just a tiny seal on the check valve shaft. Reassembled and no leaks now.
filled to 2900 on compressor gage (2100 on Talon gage)? Shot a 5 shot string @ 720 FPS. Will check psi in morning to be sure Its holding.

As of 7am this morning Talon gage 2000 psi, -100 drop. No leaks. However AirForce Air Guns is sending a new valve under warranty, Great Company.
FYI, Altaros is set to 150 BAR, Talon power wheel set to #8, 720 FPS. Using Crossman 14.3g for testing will switch to JSB 15.89g when all settled in.
BTW, Altaros answered the email question I had about the different gage readings between YH 3000 psi and Talon 2100 psi. Thought it might be larger Talon O-Ring than supplied Altaros O-Ring. Next time tank empty I'll take a look. Maybe some of this info will be of interest to some of you. Bill
