Diablo’s AirGun Field Target Shamrock Shootout! Concord, CA March -17th

Diablo’s AirGun Field Target Shamrock Shootout!

March 17th we will be holding our monthly field target match at the MPR. This month, our match will fall on St Patrick's Day - what better way to celebrate then the wearing of the green and a little friendly competition. Remember: Leprechauns are little men with black powers, cobblers by trade, and devilish by nature!

8:30 am setup, 9:00 am start.
We're going to even the stakes out a little bit by providing some twists, so everyone will have a chance- if they’ve the luck of the Irish! Lucky Charms Breakfast included with entry!

We'll have prizes for the fortunate winners and a pinch for those not wearing green. Everyone's invited - more information: [email protected]

We did it!
Bunches of targets, deep green grass and mild winds led to a St. Patrick's day Shamrock (accent on the "Rock") Shoot in Concord.
We had prizes, commemorative pins, custom painted targets and even Leprechaun defaced bonus targets!

The day prior, I got to the range and painted all of the target faces green (St. Patrick's day, right?) and the paddles orange. To complete the Irish flag motif, I put a white ring around the KZ. Brilliant: Orange, White and Green

The next morning arrives and some mischievous elves must have come into the range under the cover of night. They painted three of the target faces completely orange!
To make up for the blasphemy, we decided to allow the orange targets onto the field, but each kill would count as 2 points!

The conditions were near perfect, with enough wind to keep the WFTF guys honest and the Hunter FT Class entertained.
There was a possible 70 points under the four leaf clover to be had and some came quite close:

Now the Irish are famous for quite a few things, but one of them
isn't "sporting" fame. The Irish are the best spectators, for certain, but when it comes to Olympic sports, they're ranked 54th in the world for medals. World cup? 2002 they made it to the quarter finals. In keeping with the spirit of Ireland, we awarded prizes to all of us in the middle of the pack- there was a lovely arrangement of potted four leaf clovers, four bottles of champagne and two pictures frames.

After the event, to help lift spirits (and to keep helpers around to assist clean up) we broke out a variety drinks to cut the dust for our intrepid marksmen.
Good time was had by all, and if you think I'm full of blarney, take a look at the video:

Third Sunday of EVERY month, in Concord California.
Don't forget that our friends in Sacramento hold their match on the Fourth Sunday of every month, and the season kicks off this coming Sunday, March 25th! They hold a great event!
