This morning I pulled the spring out of my Diana 34 EMS and installed the gas piston/ram/spring (you choose).
The spring came out with very little preload but the piston was a bit of a challenge.
Where I don't have a spring compressor, I used a 5/4" plank and cammed into place in using the edge of my bench overhang and my body weight pressing on the vertical barreled action.
Once I figured it out it worked pretty slick and I didn't have to remove the barrel. All that considering the instructions were only in German!
Once back together I ran outside to give it a whirl and it's running much smoother, maybe a bit louder and super accurate.
I'll get some chronograph data together soon but it's really liking the JSB 10.34 pellets.
