Found many of the cheap plastic spring guides that RWS used would break from the harsh firing behavior on these rifles. Back in the day we replaced them with steel guides and problem solved. After a good smooth tune the plastic guides will normally hold up. There are tougher plastics today that nay hold up well. Get the harshness smoothed out and a proper fitted guide and you will be good.
