I recently bought a used diana 48 I love the gun but the front site is beat up and I use a scope. looking for suggestions on muzzle devices, full length shroud, or possible just removing the shroud(not sure how it is attached)?

Shroud is really just a sleeve. Front sight holds it in place. I've made 3d printed parts to replace it and attach a moderator. I haven't even looked at that design in more than a year.PM me and remind me to look at those files.

There’s a thin sleeve inside the shroud. All slides off when you remove front sight. Barrel isn’t blued so not a bad idea to remove and wipe a little oil on. The shroud was designed to dampen vibration in the 48/52. I bet OldSpook can make a brake/mod to replace the front sight. Another option might be to use the HPM from a D54. Believe you’d need a new shroud to make it all fit.

I have a Dianawerk steel muzzle weight on my 48. It's no longer made, but I see them on Ebay and in classifieds from time to time. It's designed specifically for the model 48 and 52. Locks on with two grub screws. Very solid.

I replaced my front sight with a Beeman moderator but had to cut the sleeve length down to fit. Thinking of replacing the sleeve with a carbon fiber one.

I like that and ya carbon fiber has crossed my mind just not sure what to use as a muzzle device with the Alphabet org going after airgun moderators and all

Mine doesn't screw on but is a slip fit. That's why there's a hex on the end nearest the rifle. Mine wouldn't quite a firearm at all as it's only 1 chamber. I've got it on there as more of a barrel weight than a moderator. I use to have one of metal muzzle protectors on it but liked the look of the moderator better. No one sells the metal muzzle protectors anymore?

Hector makes CF shroud and HPM for the 54. He made same for my 56 T/H. Architecture is a little different so the ones for 54 won’t work. From talking to him he says the layup of the CF is very important to get the right longitudinal stiffness. Don’t know if he makes similar for the 48/52 but he might. Worth asking. For what it’s worth, the shroud on the 48/52 is far less problematic than on the 54/56. Probably be in good shape just running the stock shround and a brake or HPM if available on muzzle.

It will work, but according to a friend who got one for his 48, it's so tight that it has to either be hammered on, or you need to remove a few thousandths of material to increase the inside diameter of the brake. But, there are two other problems. It's made of relatively soft aluminum and the grub screw threads are shallow and strip out very easily. It's all academic though because it's been out of stock at all the reputable dealers I use for over a year now including PA, and nobody knows when they'll be back in stock.Mine doesn't screw on but is a slip fit. I believe that is the pile that was on my 35E when I got it. +1 to everything Northwoods22 said. And, it was clipping and the edges are very sharp when you grab to cock. I’d say I couldn’t get it off fast enough, but I couldn’t get it off! Took it to Veradium air. Brian had to make a fitting and pull off with a gear puller. There’s a thread on here by Nitrocrushr with links to his article on the testing he did with Hector’s HPM on his 54. Impressive enough that I asked Hector to make one for my 56 T/H and he kindly obliged. Now that it’s under 10,000 degrees in TX I’ll finally be able to install and test. Front sight on the 48/52 has same effect. You can test that easily. Loosen, rotate a little to one side because there is some play. Re-tighten and watch your POI shift.

Hector does indeed make a high performance muzzle weight (HPM) for the 48/52. Pics below from Hector. Uses o-rings so you can tune your gun to your preferred pellet, just like in article Hateful linked. Looks like the one in pic has several o-rings in place, that’s why it’s extended past the barrel. It has 6 screws rather than 2 so it won’t loosen. That was a huge issue with the 56 T/H and his stays put on that gun. Custom order, $80. Just ordered mine LOL so if you want one now might be a good time to let him know. Everything I’ve gotten from him is top notch. Link to his website below should be able to contact him there.
