diana chaser air valve

On the diana chaser valve, what does the sealing, the brass on the pin or the plastic that the pin goes into ? I have my chaser rifle for about 2 months now and after shooting several thousand pellets, it started leaking into the barrel, it is not leaking at the pearcing seal. The only reason I mention the plastic piece is because the plastic piece only goes in so far before stopping in the housing. I did several searches on internet and they all mention seating the brass cone to the housing but if the plastic piece bottoms out before the brass cone then the brass cone can't seal.
thank you bill

The plastic is responsible for sealing. Inspect it carefully at its outer rim with the aid of magnification. Any imperfection there will cause it to leak.

Minor imperfections can be lapped out with an abrasive slurry. See here for more guidance
