N/A Diana Chaser rifle

Today I received my Diana Chaser kit and as it comes in pistol confirmation I want to use it as a rifle. Book that came with it had a lot to be desired as to the conversion, to say the least. Nothing was said about installing O rings. I knew two were needed on the barrel and assembled it that way . Of course I had much leakage at the receiver. I had assumed that the barrel already had an O ring in the barrel. Took it apart and no O ring was present. Stupid me! Installed one and now I have a very fun rifle. Just wondering how many that don’t read any of the Airguns forums just assemble and don’t even know there’s a problem. Charles

sek: The rifle barrel should have already had the two required o-rings installed on the barrel tenon. Are you referring to the o-ring that seals the bolt nose to the barrel breech? Located at the extreme rear of the barrel? That one should have also been in there as well, but could have become dislodged. I take it you found one in the little "baggie" that has the spare o-rings supplied? All's well that ends well....

Yes I did guess I'm kinda slow these days. Charles

the Oring at the end of the barrel can have two problems
as stated, missing and or if you take the barrel off with the bolt closed
the bolt can pull the Oring off the barrel and then you stuff the other barrel in, and you end up with two Orings or a barrel that will not seat
what helps is a little white grease to help hold the Orings in place and the 2 on the barrel need to be lubed also
i have 6 Chasers in kit, or pistol form and the first thing that should happen is the barrels need cleaning they have been in my case filthy
the breech end of the barrel needs to be addressed as they are rough and need smoothing and i have been using cone shaped rubber abrasives for a Dremel tool

Check out the Youtube vids about the conversion from pistol to rifle. They helped me a lot. There is an o-ring that must be transferred from the back of the short barrel to the back of the long barrel. The instructions included with the gun are lame.
Clean both barrels thoroughly before you shoot.

While you're swapping barrels and popping o-rings on and off, check for burrs at the transfer port hole of the barrel, and inside the breech. If you can get the moderator off (boiling water helped mine), then check for burrs at the crown too. Mine had some metal snaggy bits here and there and went from an inch at 10m accuracy to under a centimeter after cleaning up the barrel a bit. Fun gun!

I received mine today from Midway. 22 caliber. Quickly went through it. Scoped it. After initially sighting in the scope, this was the five shot group at 20 yards. 14.3 CPHP. Dropped one. Fun little gun.

there is a German seller on Ebay that has some very nice-looking barrel bands made out of aluminum
This comes with a barrel band equipped with the rear sight. The one I did get on eBay just yesterday is an actual Diana brand. Just for future possibilities.
I did crony this 22 caliber today. CPHP 14.3. 535 fps was an average over approximately the first 15 shots. Then 517 fps was the next 15. One inch group is obtainable at 35 yards.

Could you show us all the finished results? I would like to get rid of the front sight also. The new band will take care of the rear sight.

sure, i built 2 custom Chaser pistol a few years back and Air Venturi has a muzzle weight that has a way to mount a globe sight but the ID is 15mm
so i got 12mm ID x 15mm OD for the barrel i cut the barrel bands i had so the were flat on both side so the tubing would but up flat
now in your case you would need a barrel end finisher
i have made up 2 x.25 caliber pistol barrels that are covered and the 10mm-1.0 to 1/2-20 adapter holds the tubing in place
these are ideas nothing more but with the German barrel band you would have one the is perpendicular
now the silencer you have could work as the tube holder by using it as a nut but you will have to remove it from the factory barrel that take lots of heat a vice and soft jaws and luck
i hope that helps and again just ideas

I have had several Chasers and enjoyed them all. That's a bummer that it was missing that oring. At least there was a spare. Happy shooting 🔫
