Tuning Different Pressures on different Gauges??

I have an Air Force Texan SS .30 and an Umarex Readiair compressor. When i fill the tank the tank gauge will show 3000 PSI, however the compressor gauge only shows 2700 PSI. It is also this way when I use a Hatsan hand pump. Which gauge should I use?

Stick to the compressor and hand pump gauges' readings, as they are normally more accurate.

Personally I would go by the gauge on the gun

Always go by the gauge that reads the highest when there is a discrepancy until you get it figured out. It's a safety thing but as it's only 300psi it should not make a huge difference as the pressure vessels we use are tested well beyond that kind of tolerance. Still were it me I would just split the difference until I figured it out. Most of the gun gauges are very cheap items. Gauges on tanks are usually more expensive, bigger and easier to read.

I also do what biohazardman does. After all, it’s just a couple extra shots vs playing it safe. I always remind myself that it’s just an airgun and those extra shots are just going to be at paper or some dumb little animal, not a once in a lifetime trophy.

Yep had differences of up to 500psi, go with the lowest, be safe. I wanted to trust my newer gauges. They were wrong when checked against the Dive Shop gauge.

SO a little update on this. The tank in question had a leak since i had it. 1500+ PSI in 8 hrs. I determined that it was the fill port and gauge leaking (from the factory). So I retaped them with teflon tape and tested with water. No leaks. Now the tank gauge is showing 3100 PSI when the compressor gets to 3000 PSI.

Another issue gauges can have with being different is the size of the gauge itself. The larger the gauge as is on my mini compressor is more accurate than my gun gauge purely due to what can be put on the gauge face.
