DIFTA Match Report Saturday, April 23, 2022
Nine shooters turned out for a 60-shot match, with one off hand and one kneeling lane. The weather started off in the low 50’s and ended in the mid 60s; wind was light but variable, but without a tree canopy target visibility was good. Along with two 48s and a 49 T target, the average difficulty of the course was 30.25 T, which puts it in the hard category, but with several easy targets to keep spirits up when the going got tough. Paolo Amadeo acted as match Director.
After a long absence it was great to see Al Otter and Tinh Nguyen back at DIFTA, and to welcome Brian VanLiew, Knobs, and Richard Bassett, old timers who travelled long distances to come to the match, along with Wayne Darrell who came from the Eastern Shore.
Brian VanLiew put in an amazing performance, taking the match high score, clearing both the offhand and kneeling lanes, and missing only 4 targets; Al Otter took 2nd place in Open PCP. The biggest turnout was WFTF with Knobs taking the high score, with a draw between Hector and Tinh for second place. Wayne Darrel was our only Hunter division shooter.
Some nice rifles were in use; Brian VanLiews TM 1000 mounted in a custom stock ‘The Truth’ with a telescopic wind indicator, and other neat tricks was a sight to see.
Our next match is the AAFTA MD state championship on Saturday May 21.
Please let us know if you prefer a 60 or 72 shot match.
