Results DIFTA Match Report Saturday, October 5, 2024

Nine shooters turned out for our October match. The weather forecast for sunny skies was optimistic. Shooters coming from the north commented that after a pleasant drive down in perfect weather they hit clouds on crossing the MD state line. The match started in the low 60s, but climbed to the low 70s as the sun finally made an appearance. There was a fair amount of wind in the tree canopy, but down at ground level hardly any hold off was required. The lighting was unusual, with many dark targets, a few silhouetted by bright backgrounds adding to the challenge.

The course was 10 lanes, with one kneeling and one offhand lane, with three targets per lane shot twice. The Troyer value for the course was 30.05 with six targets > 40T; nine targets with 0.375”or 0.5” kill zones; and ten targets set out at >= 40 yards. Lane six, with consecutive 0.5” targets at 13 and 21 yards caused grief for all but the top 4 shooters. We had one sticky target with a 1/2” kill zone that multiple shooters failed to knock down despite clear hits on the paddle. Scores were adjusted across the board to give everyone 2 points.

The match high score of 51/60 was taken by Mike Beyerle in Hunter Division closely followed by Justin Hess and by Mark King in WFTF who both scored 50.
