DIFTA Match Report Sunday, June 11, 2023
A match directors delight: We had only 4 shooters who signed up for the 60 shot match but 10 enthusiasts turned out to shoot! The weather was close to optimal, with yet again barely any wind. Temperatures started in the low 70s and ended in the low 80s.
The average difficulty was 30.65 T; with 1 off hand and 1 kneeling lane; eight targets in the expert range of 40-48T; 10 targets > 40 yards; and six targets of 0.5” – 0.375”. The main challenge that added extra difficulty for some targets was dense shade that made seeing the kill zone difficult.
Greg White took the Match high score in Hunter PCP, closely followed by Al Otter and Rex Gori who tied for second place in Open PCP and Piston respectively. Despite rumors that the Open Division is in decline this was our most popular division. It was great to see Mike Harris, who took the high score in WFTF PCP, back at the Club after a long absence. John Gori shot his first FT match after more than a 10 year break.
The top contestants for the best looking rifles were Tinh Nguyen’s Anschulz 2002 in a gorgeous tricked out home made stock, and Mike Harris’s AA ProTarget in a limited Edition stock with beautiful detail.
As always many thanks to those who travel long distances to compete and keep our sport alive
Paolo Amadeo designed the course and Mark Mayer acted as match Director.
The next match at DIFTA is on Saturday July 15.
