DIFTA Match Report Sunday, September 11, 2022

Five shooters turned out for a 72-shot match, with one off hand and one kneeling lane. For the first half match we had to deal with continuous moderate to heavy rain. After about an hour and 30 mins of this, the rain tapered off, and it was quite pleasant! Tom Strong came best prepared for the match, with a huge Sport Brella, that you can sit under while shooting; the rest of us got wet. Of course, the down-hill slope at DIFTA, leading from lanes 1-12, turned into a small stream. Hector noted that instead of a canoe, a kayak would be better suited to move around the course. And then there was mud; lots and lots of it, but, once again, no wind! Is this climate change?

The average course difficulty was 29.7T; with seven targets > 40T; seven targets with 0.5” – 0.375” kill zones; and ten targets set out at > 40 yards.

The match high score was shot by Paul Cray ‘The FT Guy’ in WFTF PCP, an amazing score considering the conditions for the first half of the match. A forensic analysis was required to verify Paul’s score because his score sheet turned into a soggy mess and disintegrated during the match!

Tae Chung put in his best performance to date, with a huge improvement in his hit ratio, from 47 percent in his last match to 64 percent. Tom Strong took the high score in Hunter. We had only one shooter in Open division.
