Discovery HD 2-12X24 SFIR FFP. A little experiment.

To jump on the Discovery bus, I recently ordered a pair of 6x24 scopes. I don’t have high expectations, so I hope they fall above that. At the very least they will go on my 2240 and Notos that I loan out to friends to try and get them hooked on AG’s. Price has gone up to $71 now.

How do you like this very inexpensive scope?
Do you have a link?
Seems perfect for a Notos!

So far so good. It doesn’t have the greatest eye relief, but luckily is is secure with only using one ring. It will find its way back to my Notos. Right now they are on my S200 and Revere. Those are getting back yard plinking time. I’m glad I purchased them. The one thing about them is if you use the illuminated reticle the edges if the viewing area illuminates. I don’t use illuminated generally, so it’s a non issue for me. If you want to keep a platform as lightweight as possible, it’s a good little scope.

I would buy a third one of the Discovery HD 2-12×24 scopes before another Vector Veyron 3-12×44, based on factory direct sales and quality, reticle choice and size, overall size, and value for the money. There's a little less light transmission on the 24mm front lense versus the 44mm but it is negligible for the use. With both scope's at minimum power, the reticle of the Discovery HD is much bigger and easier to see and use. The Vector, at all ranges is smaller and thinner.
I’ve just received mine … be interesting to see if it will work for pistol HFT

It does have a really good eye relief, but nothing like a true and dedicated pistol scope. I'm weighing buying a third scope so one doesn't have to be taken off another rifle. They are a sweet little scope, that's for sure.

I'm bummed out. These are sold out everywhere. I'm thinking of getting the HD 3-12x44 SFIR for $200. I assume these two should be very similar.
I'd buy factory direct, right from the Discovery Optics web site. They had a batch of their scopes warehoused in California last time I ordered one and it only took about a week to deliver.

It says they're both out of stock. However, the DiscoveryOpt.US link has the 3-12x44 available.

This is a good scope. A little longer that the lpvo, but still really compact. Be aware, because of their smaller size and ring spacing, offset or cantilever rings may be required with your setup to clear the magazine.

I am planning to put it on a FX Panthera Hunter compact with a 300mm barrel. I am hoping it'll clear.

I have the 2-12x24 and I'm really enjoying it. I can't find details on the parallax specs for the 3-12x32. Does it also focus down to 5 yards? (or meters, I guess they don't specify)

The 3-12X focuses down to 10 -11 yards on full magnification, which may be considered 5 meters. I never figured out if it's truly yards of meters but it definitely has a parallax error and won't focus under that amount of space.

It appears that the folks at Discovery pay pretty close attention to their manufacturing of eack scope and how many are currently available for sale on a daily or weekly basis for each location. The Discovery Optics factory site is now showing the 2-12x24 is back.in stock and orderable again, but the DiscoveryOpt.US site is now out of stock on the 3-12x44.

I sent them an email on my initial post. But as you stated, they said it’ll be in stock Monday, when they replied yesterday. But I got a sweet deal from another AGN member!
