Discovery O-ring replacement?

Can someone tell me how much physical force it actually takes to remove the valve assemble in a discovery? The rifle has a slow leak so I was going to replace all the O-rings. I tried to push the valve assembly from the breech end towards the fill end but it would not move. I didn't want to tear anything up so I stopped and re-assembled the rifle. When I looked down the tube (before I re-assembled it) it looked like there was something black around the edge of the valve. This rifle is a tack driver and I would really like to get it to where I could fill it up and be able to pick it up at a moments noticed to remove pest birds from the back yard. Would appreciate any help anyone can offer. Mike

Once you have the ( tube naturally empty of air ) rifle stripped - valve retention screws removed- it will just push out the front. The orings are a snug fit and can find ways to grab the tube. I like using a worthless .22 barrel to slip over valve stem and push out hard valves with that. Just the friction of the oring (s) holding it in and your replacing them anyway, give it a hard shove you cant hurt anything.

Thanks John. I was using an old aluminum shotgun cleaning rod with the bore brush removed so it would cover the valve stem, but not touch it. Like I said, I was afraid I might break something if I pushed to hard. I will break it down again tonight when I run low enough on air not to be able to shoot the pest birds steal my dogs food. Amazes me how them dogs will just lay there and let the birds eat their food. Lol
Thanks again, Mike..
